7/2/2009 Ratification of Fortis treaty Yes Fortis is a new alliance, composed of Spain, Ireland, United Kingdom, Canada and USA.

Individual allies (those who have signed an MPP with the eUS) have an obligation to help defend us if our original territories are attacked; we have the same obligation to them. Members of Fortis commit to interact in a new organization, to coordinate security, military and economic policy, and to cooperate in foreign policy matters. Fortis creates stronger ties among its members, and confers more mutual help on each member than do individual bi-lateral MPPs. The eUS is also free to refuse to act collectively if it chooses. I can see no potential disadvantages to membership and many potential advantages.
