Japan's Place

Day 770, 10:44 Published in Japan United Kingdom by AltmerVampire

Sup Japan,

I’ve been asked to write an article about various things, including Japan’s position in the world, the state of its allies’ and enemies’ affairs and generally foreign affairs related things so let us get started shall we?

It is hardly surprising that at the moment, we are in no way best buddies with nations that make up Phoenix. However, as we can see from our MPPs, Japan is building bonds with various EDEN nations (Poland, Spain and Greece). This, however, does not signal a move towards our nation joining the alliance, rather our region swapping with the USA has caused Japan to assess it’s security and protect itself with various EDEN nation MPPs. I must stress, Japan’s Congress seems very against any move to join EDEN at the moment, and when the current climate in Asia calms down it is very possible we will seek to balance our out Mutual Protection Pacts.

Although the Kyushu Crisis severely weakened relations with Phoenix, we believe it did in fact strengthen relations with other countries in Asia, such as Malaysia, China and Thailand. Eastern Asian nations are still very much a close knit community, with many close bonds between the neighbours.

We currently see Dokomo and KITA Ikki lining up for the Presidential spot in Japan for January 2010. The only reason I mention this is because it does rather impact on international affairs. Dokomo is more received by the USA and EDEN communities due to his close ties with them for Japan’s security for the last month. While KITA is a much bigger fan of neutrality, and not giving into the US’ demands will make him much more popular with Phoenix nations and will put Japan a step forward in rebuilding relations with Phoenix nations, and therefore cementing Japan’s ability to be neutral in this war of the alliances.

Allies

China

China, being one of Japan’s long-term allies for obvious reasons, is closer to complete liberation from Phoenix than ever before. They have regained Liaoning, one of their high Iron regions from Iran thanks to America’s help. Unfortunately the Americans seem to have decided to leave the battle for HelloKitty for a little while longer, in an effort to go liberate India from Indonesia. As we can see from the map, Jilin and HelloKitty are still under Hungarian control, with a vast expanse of Chinese regions between Hungarian and USA controlled China. This was the USA retreating from the superior Hungarian forces, and not wanting to lose all their regions in newly liberated China, they closed the gap, forcing the Hungarians to open a war with China if they wanted to fight the USA.

So in the meantime, it looks as if the War in Asia will continue for quite a bit longer, and the liberation of all Chinese regions will not be happening any time soon.

Australia

Australia seems to have found itself free from Brazilian occupation for the time being, but it is next to certain that the Brazilians will strike again, when they have re-gathered their forces for the next strike.

The origins of this war seems to be in the Brazilians being offended at the Australians for offending their Indonesian brothers by fighting alongside EDEN against Indonesia, and due to Indonesia having a NAP with Australia, have taken the upper ground and not struck back.

Malaysia

The issue of Malaysia being invaded by Indonesia seems to have become a side issue as of late, with the Indonesians seeming to prefer to defend their Asian colonies against the USA as a matter of priority. However, not long ago Indonesia re-commenced their invasion of Malaysia, attacking Sarawek.

India

Like China, India is currently being liberated from Phoenix countries by the USA, so far this campaign is being waged successfully, and chances are India will be whole soon again. It is rather interesting since India have only just fended off a PTO, a few regions may not help in this regard.

Enemies

South Korea

Our traditional little rivalry with the Theocrats seems to be picking up with the Theos threatening an invasion of our islands. With reports of dealings with Hungary and Russia, some people in Japan fear they actually intend to carry out their threats. It remains to be seen, but at the moment it seems likely they will not invade, largely due to our MPPs. Unless of course, we get a foolhardy President who wishes to attack back, activating their MPPs (Croatia, Romania, Spain) too, making it interesting.

Likewise, the South Koreans have regained the majority of all their original regions, it remains to be seen if this benefits them in any way.

North Korea

The Korean peninsula seems to have been split into East and West Korea, rather than North or South. The obvious repercussions of this is that it seems to separate “South” Korea from Japan. This seems mildly odd since “North” Korea is a Russian puppet at the moment, and therefore would hate the EDEN-friendly Theocrats.

As mentioned earlier in the article, the USA was pushed out of northern China, and therefore any chances of liberating North Korea and giving it back to the original inhabitants seems to be over for now. At least until the Americans try again for HelloKitty and friends.

So I do believe that is me finished for today, if you have any questions or comments, please let me know and I’ll address them as soon as possible.

Thanks for reading.
