Klink was actually played by a Jew. All the main German characters were. The Klink actor actually fled the Nazi's in WW2. The show was completely uncontroversial.

It did the opposite of glorifying Nazi's and you would have to brain dead to watch an episode and not realize that.

I guess doing research on the character first didn't occur to this individual. There's this thing called the interwebs and it's a great source for researching such things. I'd say the joke is on this Canadian.
