This is Part 8 in a 10 part series called How to Succeed in eUSA.

Part 8 - Extras and Tools

A community like eRepublik is bound to produce some excellent tools making use of the (sometimes spotty) API or even just scraping data using other means.

I will link you to some of the best tools that I’ve used. I really don’t want to write a tutorial on how to use each one (and in several cases the tutorial would be extremely extensive!) so you are mostly on your own to click around and figure things out. If you just can’t make something work, ask me in PM. I’ll help.

I will be mentioning a script in this review. Scripts are supposed to be against the Terms of Service of eRepublik. For whatever reason, the script that I am referencing doesn’t seem to ever get anyone into trouble. Still, I suppose I should just say, “Use it at your own risk” like everyone else already does.

Remember, you can always bookmark this article in your favorites rather than having to bookmark all of these links separately.

And yes, if there is a tool you really think I should include on this list, send me a link to it… If I think it's worth adding, I’ll add it.

Reader counter
It looks like this:

By adding this tool to your articles, you will know how many unique readers have clicked to open your article. It will tell you how many people visited your article and did not vote it. It’s an attractive tool.

Want one? Here’s what the code looks like in my paper:

Reader/Views counter

This reader counter includes a viewer counter which not only tells you how many unique viewers you've had, but it also runs a separate counter for every time your article is accessed. Because of all of the useful links in this article, it will likely have many more views than readers. It's not as attractive as the blue reader counter, but it's cool.

Want one? Here’s what the code looks like in my paper:

Damage Calculator

This site has plenty of tools, a few of which don’t work. But this is one of the better Damage Calculators available.

The easiest way to use it is to input your Profile ID #. How do you get that? Simple. Just click on your name under your avatar. That will bring you to your Profile page. Now look at the URL. Mine looks like this:

See the numbers at the end there? Those digits are your eRepublik Profile ID#. You’ll use them a lot as you play the game more. Copy those numbers, then insert them into the Damage Calculator where it says, “citizen id - type it here”. Then click the “get influence” button. The tool defaults to showing you what Influence you do with 1 hit with a Q7 weapon. Now you can start playing around with the other fields. It will provide an influence total cumulative of whatever weaponry you ask it to consider.

Battle Hero Calculator

Want to know how many resources you will need to reach a certain level of damage? This is your tool. It works the same way as the previously mentioned tool except it gives you fields to enter energy bars and and Food Fights used.

IRC

The place to be for eRepublikans. The link provided is for Mibbit, though experienced IRC users will scoff at me for even suggesting its use. I barely understand enough about IRC to even use it, so Mibbit seems fine to me. The key, though, is that you need to link up using Rizon if you want to chat with the eUS community. Nearly any experienced Citizen can help you with specific channels to visit.

The bottom line, though, is that it is very difficult to break into an IRC-using community unless you spend some time on IRC. It isn't absolutely necessary, but you're forsaking your best bet for building your future if you eschew its use.

Country Stats

Lots of information here, all in one place. Click around.

Battle Hero Finder

This is an excellent way to find a Battle if you feel like sniping a BH medal. You simply click on whichever Division you fight in, enter how much damage you can do, then an amount of remaining time (less if you want a battle which is almost over, more if you want more choices). People will pretend you’ve killed their dog if you snipe a BH, but the truth is the game has devolved into an environment that rewards selfish behaviour. I won’t judge you if you do it. (You also won't make any friends that way. Still...

FF Finder

And this tool will help you find RW battles that are being won by the Resistance. You determine the parameters. A small green “Fight” button links you directly to the battle screen back ingame.

Let me explain the parameters it is asking for, since it is a little challenging to understand at first.

First, you click on your Division.

Second, you enter the minimum amount of points differential between the winning RW side and the losing defenders side.

Third, you enter the maximum remaining points needed by the Resistance before the battle is won.

Experiment by trying 30 and 30. You will see battles wherein the Resistance is leading by at least 30 points and where they already have more than 52 points accumulated.

Get the idea?

Manufacturing Profits

A semi-good Manufacturing calculator. You can make manual adjustments by clicking the “Modify” button. All in all it will give you a snapshot of how much money you are losing if you actually use those companies you spent your Gold on. Next time spend it upgrading your Training Grounds. But I already covered that topic several times throughout this 10 part series.

Best Manufacturing tool for eUSA

A much better tool for calculating Manufacturing essentials. This tool puts all you need at your fingertips to find out how much money you will lose by investing in manufacturing companies. (I’m being intentionally sarcastic. There is technically money to be made if you dump a lot of gold into manufacturing, but it will literally take you over a year to recover that Gold, and that’s assuming market conditions remain as barely decent as they are. This is not a guarantee.)

egov

If you want Military data, this is where you are most likely to find it. There is a bit of a learning curve as you figure out how to find what you are looking for. But the statistics provided here are amazing. I cannot possibly walk you through all of the pages and what they mean. You are just going to have to start clicking around. Have fun!

Downloadable company guide

This is a downloadable tool for calculating your Company’s essentials. It is VERY good. Requires Excel 2007 or later.

You can keep current with updates to this tool by checking this thread.

Article Editor

Ever have eRepublik eat your article? Write it here first. No more CSRF attacks either. Incidentally, if you use Chrome browser, there’s also a nice app called Lazarus that remembers everything you type into any browser box so if you accidentally page away from it or somehow lose it, you can recover your work.

Many will tell you to just write your articles in notepad or word or whatever. That works too, especially if you know how to manually code the BBCode. I wrote this entire series in a Gdoc.

Google Search for Stuff+

This is the Chrome addon I mentioned at the top of the article. Trust me when I tell you that this will completely change how you interact with eRepublik. It provides countless useful tools. It ranks #1 in my book of eRep addons. I won’t link directly to it because that might cause my article to get taken down. Instead I’ve linked you to a Google search. You can do the rest by clicking on the first listed link.

Several of the tools previously mentioned are rendered unnecessary by this one addon.

eGov’s Map

Even though this one technically falls under the eGov site, it deserves its own mention. This map system will impress you. It does the only thing we truly need a map to do for understanding the strategic value of a particular region - it shows you which regions are adjacent. In other words, this map will show you which European regions (including the Azores) are “adjacent” to the eUS’s East Coast states. Play with it.

eUS Forum

If you don't have an account at the eUS Forum, you're missing half the game.

I hope these tools really open up the gaming experience for you. There are a few that, without them, it would drastically change how I play this game.

In Part 9, I’ll be really stirring the pot as I introduce you to some of eUSA’s most prominant personalities. It’ll be a laugh riot.
