While I understand that some did accuse you of thievery I do not believe that questioning your above statements crosses any lines and in fact are completely reasonable. While I am grateful that you did pull strings to have this gold, which you did lose, recovered that does not mean that I trust you to hold onto it and I am glad to see that you have decided that that would be inapropriate as well. As for the timing, I do think it was a coincidence but you should be able to see why people might question it. The quote from above is from an article you published a week ago and until today you had yet to publish another article, or write a message publicly on the forums, clearly explaining who had access to the account (is it still your e-mail address being used, for instance?), who would have access to the gold it contained, and whether the "problem" had been solved to your satisfaction. Or you could have donated the gold directly to the treasury and taken it out of your hands right away. I don't know how bad these attacks got but surely you must take some of the blame for letting this situation get so far out of hand. I second everything Chochi has said. I was also a doubter, not out of any grudge or ill will, but simply because the whole thing was suspicious and eCanada has had its trust RUINED over the past few months.

However, here's yet another "top" player who sets the bar for the common man higher than his own bar. You were elected country president and you misplaced a huge amount of gold. Whose fault was that? Yes, accidents happen, and I accept your explanation. But again, how do you expect the ordinary everyday player, who doesn't have an insider's view, just plays honestly for the team, to somehow know that what you're telling them is true?

Yes, I admit they should, but can you see for a moment why they might not?

Here's what I would have done if I had "lost" 2600 gold belonging to my fellow players:

1. Abject apology
2. Full explanation
3. I would have not disappeared, but been around every day to take the slings of those outraged by me.
4. I would have begun, with my own personal in-game and extra-game money, to pay the money back. I recognize there may be a limit to that, but I would have done what I could.

Doing something like that might have gone a long way to decrease public cynicism and made it easier for the lower level players to recognize you for the good guy you actually are.

I say this to you, Acacia, Rolo, whomever: STOP ASKING THE GENERAL POPULACE TO BE MIND-READERS. Or, if you won't do that, at least don't be quite so huffy when they get it wrong.

@RCM: As I have stated before, I am always glad to have it explained to me how all of this is actually my fault, and I abjectly apologize for what I've done to hurt this team I love.

Moving on, me personally I don't think I've been a hater. I've tried to get through to these "top" players, how their actions look to the "lesser" players, and asked them to cut them some slack and not got off like wounded princesses. I don't say the reaction of people is right - I say it is understandable.

I accept Fram's explanation and think he's a good guy. I also know how hard it is for people to accept that 2600 gold went missing into an org he couldn't remember the password for and how lightning strikes sound a bit like "the dog ate my homework".

I also know there's people who use the anonymity of the internet to get their hate on. That comes with the big chair. Someone has to be the bigger man.

I've already confessed my limitations to the team, and that I'm taking a vacation from this team because I just can't stand what's happened to the group spirit here. Fram is one of many who are getting tarred with a brush that 1ronman and others built. It's not fair.

I think it's a shame he now says "goodbye eCanada" and I think it;s a real disappointment to hear him muse aloud that maybe he shouldn't have gone to all this trouble to give us back our money. You'll forgive us if we don't all fall over ourselves with gratitude to be given back what was rightfully ours in the first place.

I personally wish Fram would not leave. He's a great player, and if ever eCanada needed him, surely now is the time. But as I say that, I of all people, the guy who is leaving the country to recover, have got to cut him some slack and say I understand. If he stayed, he'd be a bigger man than I.
