First Edition - An Introduction
Suileabhain
Hello eCitizens of South Africa. My name is Suileabhain, and you have stumbled onto the inaugural issue of my newspaper, “the Loyal Opposition”. I’m a former 2-clicker player originally from the eUSA who has decided to join in the rebuilding of South Africa. The first thing I’d like to do is thank all those who’s hard work resulted in the liberation and reemergence of eSA, my new home. Without their hard work, none of what we citizens of eSA are doing now would even be possible.
Now on to a breif statment about my political beliefs. I’m a supporter of limited government conservatism. I believe that the way to build prosperity in eSA is to promote an environment where both workers want to move here and businessmen want to start companies here. The more citizens we have, and the more goods we produce, the stronger our nation will become. The main tool we have to do this is the tax policy. Taxes need to be at as low as possible without crippling the government. The advantages of extra income from a tax increase need to be weighed against the income that could be lost by a company not opening up for business or a worker not coming here to find a job.
In future articles, I plan on using this paper to express my opinions and views on current events in our nation. I hope some of my fellow citizens will find my work interesting, and look forward to your comments.
Onward to a strong and prosperous South Africa where all citizens have an opportunity to work hard and succeed.
Comments
Hello Suileabhain. Nice to meet you.
The only suggestion I have is about your Newspaper Icon.
That image is very very over used. Try something fresh.
Yeah I agree about the icon, I need to find something a little more exciting. It is a nice looking flag though...
what i love about our country is that lots of brains came here to rebuild it from the debries left after occupation
welcome home
Welcome home? It seems the so-called conservatives have come to eSa to try and build what failed in the eUSA... Don;t get me wrong we want and need more people here, but after 7 days from the first congress after the PTO. Much work is needed and to come and tell us what is needed is a bit over the top.
You want to make money fine I get it... We want a country not a Corporate Entity!
Hi Zagarius, thanks for your comments. Its not that I want eSA to be a commpany - I too want it to be a strong country. What we differ on is how to acomplish this.
I firmly believe that limited taxes are the way to do this. The more attractive to companies and workers we make eSA, the more that will come here and join us. Not only will these new citizens produce goods, grow the economy, and thus provide tax income (a larger tax base needs lower taxes to get the same income) - they will also make us more secure by increasing the cost to attack our region by any future hostile countries.
Now I'm not a member of congress, and currently have no intention of running, so I don't have the ability make these changes. All I can do is express my opinions and hope others agree.
Limited government conservatism? This is not the US and it's not RL. Limited government you can have, but leave "conservatism" behind.
