Fight the lowering of import taxes
Schoft
This is the question across eAustralia for the last couple of days. I do applaud some more competition when the senate/cabinet provides us with a baby boom are finds a way to lower the wages. The pronlem that we currently have was from the liberation of WA. At the moment we see the same trend in China. Before the liberation of Lionking the wage for a skilled 7 worker was around 17CNY, and with the high iron region adding to China it is reaching 36CNY. So the we cannot solve the problem from the government by getting more competition in as some of the senators propose because with WA we already got a large number of Indos keeping their companies and continue trading in WA. As we lower the taxes we will have a boxing day sale for companies in Australia, and destroy the Australian owned companies.
The Solution
The solution is very simple, I will provide my self and my companies an competitive edge by using the MM to avoid paying taxes as a protest to the government and using the possible loss of income taxes as a tool. I will be publishing a "How to avoid taxes for businesses 101" if I feel that the senate/cabinet gives preference to the foreign companies that ripped us off during the Brazil war. Those companies get the preferences over our own companies.
Australia you choose where you buy from, an Austrralian company to keep our jobs or have to work overseas in those companies.
Comments
"to keep our jobs"?
Schoft, you can't even fill your own companies!
Whitelaughter, I am not willing to have all my companies with too much stock. But if you are willing to take a paycut let me know and I will start hiring people again. Nobody wants lower wages but we all want cheaper products, you can have both.
Or why not introduce more competition to the marketplace, and the companies that aren't providing sustainable wages go under? Thus allowing the almighty "free market" to reach equilibrium again.
Letting foreign imports kill our local businesses is a bad move, and one I will fight against in the Senate.
agreed Derek. Thats the whole idea with lowering the import tax.
We're not gonna wait around forever for a babyboom to happen to stop the wage war. The govt. needs to step in and try and change the market situation.
I hope you can see how much of a tantrum you are throwing over 50% import tax Schoft. Seriously? Blackmail? This makes me sick.
I'm looking forward to these articles, subscribed.
dude, there have been many articles published here and on he forums explaining why lowering import taxes is a good thing. These articles provide sound reasoning and justification to do so.
No one yet has provided a good counter-argument. And I mean "argument" in the debating sense. Many people make statements like "it's going to kill the economy", etc., but provide no explanation on "how" its going to kill the economy.
The establishment of high import taxes is not the norm in eRepublik except to protect a strategic industry or unless you are a Phoenix country with colonies. Its time for eAustralia to join the world economy.
Lowering the import tax will bring the prices down forcing the wages down too. Low import taxes are a good thing, if the destroy our economy like some people believe they will it is not that hard to raise taxes again you know?
he argument supporting import taxes ignores 1 fundamental principle - goods are not in the main purchased by export license they are purchased by trading orgs - moving to the cheapest goods source - how do you think we sell so many diamonds? Import taxes merely impeded those too poor to set up a trading org. Import taxes are a tax on the poor to the benefit of the rich.

High import taxes destroy wealth of working citizens by forcing them to buy more expensive local goods.
We buy more expensive local goods because of the high wages here. We cannot change the high wages without doing something about the worker shortage.
Don't kill off our Aussie businesses because you want cheaper goods, fix the problems that cause the high prices.
Don't let imports steal our Aussie business.
Schoft, r u not in the dropbears? So you want to show businesses how to avoid paying taxes to the very government that supplies you with your guns for free. you want to avoid paying taxes to the government that provides your moving tickets for free. you want everything for free, but dont want to pay taxes. kick this fool out of the dropbears. are you kidding me? just my thoughts to a stupid article and a stupid move of not paying your taxes. how much in free guns per week have you gotten in the past week alone?
"We cannot change the high wages without doing something about the worker shortage."
Binda, if we allow cheaper imports into the country then GMs can focus on operating companies which are profitable. It's not fair to be forcing Austalians to buy one item for the same price they could get 2 on the open market.
Plus in times of war we have a deeper supply in the market and fewer shortages.
howdiedark I am trying to make a point here and if you do not like it too bad and if it means I cant do those weapons runs to supply the dropbears be my guest howdiedark.
Infin "Plus in times of war we have a deeper supply in the market and fewer shortages." Maybe you are missing the point those companies ripped us off during the war they were asking ridiculous prices for weapons or as I mentioned many times before 150aud for a q5 weapon or maybe I should put it in a simpler way for you 3 Gold is a fair price in your opinion, then drop the import taxes and get ripped off.
Dropping import taxes would increase the amount of companies exporting to the nation, which would increase the volume of product up for trade in the market, which would LOWER THE GODDAMN PRICES.
I have no idea why you cling onto this 3g / Q5 weapon soundbite as if eAussie companies wouldn't have charged the EXACT SAME THING OR MORE because of absolutely zero supply in the market.
Schoft, the foreign companies ripped us off because there were NO LOCAL WEAPONS. Do you get that yet?
If we had 5 times as many foreign suppliers in that situation the prices would have been lower because they would have been competing for sales. This is pretty basic stuff.
Oversea's companies can also collude.
Collude: Verb
1. Act of unision or agreement and in secret towards a deceitful or illegal purpose.
So basically oversea's companies can talk with one another, and mutually agree to keep the prices high, and take full advantage of the situation.
If the overseas companies collude to list their products at higher prices, then Australians can always sell for less.
We will lower our prices, and oversea's will try to keep the prices up.
We will meet somewhere in the middle. It will eventually balance out.
Sir Billy, surely more competition will prevent collusion. There are strong incentives to sell cheat such agreements because all the sales go to the company with the lowest price.
High prices during war indicate limited supply, if there is one time where high prices are justifiable in free markets, it is when there is not enough to go around.
I'm not saying that they certainly will sir.
I will say that option is possible. I'll tell you that I personally check who my competition is on the market, and I write to my competition by mail sometimes, and talk with my competition for my own reasons.
There might be one quarter million active citizens in this game, but out of all those citizens only a handful regularly use the forums. A small fraction of the whole population owns a Q1 grain producing company in eAustralia, so it is a very small community that I compete with. And from my experience from living in small communities I have learned that eveybody knows everyone elses business. I would only have to send out a handful of letters to contact all my partners in crime.
To me this topic is all about protecting our country, and our investments. I am no different. I also want to protect our, and my investments.
I just checked the grain market then. Only one page maximum on the eAustralian market, and I am only competing with 8 Q1 companies at reasonable prices.
I do like to offer good prices, but I don't want to sell below cost price. I am really here to make a profit also.
It will be interesting to see what happens. I am only new here, so enjoying the ride 🙂
Please call me Billy. I tried to register with the name billy, but it was taken by another citizen.
