eQLD Constituent Newsletter: Week 1

Good morning eQueensland

As promised, I will produce these where time allows and the Senate has business before it. I will also provide my voting record and - where explanations might be seen as necessary - why I voted a particular way. This is my commitment to full transparency to the people of eQueensland who placed their trust in me.

Financial votes

RBA Transfer

I voted in favour of this proposal for the simple reason that eAustralia's treasury and public revenue streams will be protected from any future PTO threat. The Senate has overwhelmingly approved the latest transfer allotment.

Defence and foreign affairs votes

MPP with eRomania
MPP with eUnited States of America

The Prime Minister submitted two (2) MPP bills for the Senate's ratification. I, along with the Senate majority, support further bilateral efforts with other countries to protect eAustralia's national interests and security.

The MPP with eRomania has been approved and the eUSA vote is currently under way and approval is highly anticipated.

Health policy votes

Q1 Hospital purchase for South Australia

The Prime Minister requested the Senate's authorisation for a private industry purchase for the needs of the eSouth Australian people. The allocation represented market rate for the cost of 880.08 AUD.

As a federal Senator, I also have a duty to look out for all eAustralians in the Congress. I support the Government's commitment to doing what it can to help provide for the health and well-being of all of our country's people, thus my reason for voting in favour of the proposal.

It was not a tight vote, although there was a higher-than-usual vote against compared to other bills so far in the new session (27-7, with the remainder abstaining/not voted). I have abiding respect for any of my colleagues who disagreed with the bill, though I have stated my reasons for supporting it.

Q1 Hospital purchase for Otago

The Prime Minister requested same for Otagoans for same allocation. This vote is just been scheduled.

Defence and foreign affairs letters: MPPs

The Prime Minister has sent a letter to the Senate informing them of a decision the Government has taken with regard to an upcoming MPPs under the new rules.

Out of respect for the many international deliberations commensurate of such changes, I will reserve public comment until the Government reports further and the Senate has been presented with these bills. This decision recognises the Government's sound fiscal policy in relation to keeping costs low wherever possible. When it is presented to the Senate, I will support it.

If requested by my constituents to do so, I will request a briefing from the Hon. the Minister for Foreign Affairs for further information.

You're up to date. If any eQueenslander requires assistance or would like help on an issue of importance to them, don't hesitate to contact me. That's what the Senate is here for and should be here for.

Have a great week!
