election day ... and other thoughts

Day 316, 04:53 Published in USA USA by scrabman

Today is the first election day since I've been playing the game. How exciting to be a part of this eDemocracy! The trick is who to vote for? Do you vote for your party? Do you vote for who has been nice to you ... or both? I'm part of the United States Workers Party and they have been very kind to me as their members have given me health boosts as I've been working my way up toward 100 each day. However, my employer is Justinous and he has also been nice to me and one day bumped my health up 9 units as well. It was hard to decide because my party leaders, Roby specifically, have also boosted me. So I won't say who I voted for ... but at this point I think that supporting my party is the right step to take.

As for other developments. I think that I'm getting the hang of this game. I've managed to get some money now so I have been trying to pay it forward by helping others with gift exchanges as others, in turn, have helped me. I'm not sure when to try to save for a house but I figure that would be a good thing. I wonder if it would be better to buy a 1 star house off the bat or if it would be better to go for a higher one. You seem to have a finite supply of inventory ... no more than 30 food or gifts at a time ... which sucks since I have like 14 Q1 food that I can't get rid of now. So it makes me think I should wait on the nicer house ... at least till I can afford a Q2 to make up for my daily working and training. Then again, I can buy Q4 food every day and get a better benefit (though I realize that the effect is cumulative so that I would get 6 wellness with a Q2 house and Q4 food).

I read someone talking about financing a house in one of the forums. I wonder how you would do that? I also read that you can't get rid of lower quality food units or other items ... another reason for caution with buying the house. Can anyone here verify that for me? Is there a way around this situation or is there another way to look at it?

I've also been reading about the implementation of the V1 upgrade of this game and how it will be changing a lot of things. I had asked some people earlier if there is any advantage to working in different fields and the answer had been perhaps. It would appear that being cross-disciplined will be helpful for the V1 version if what I'm reading is true. But there is also a rumor that when V1 gets implemented that only your highest skill will transfer over. There is also a rumor that there won't be any national currencies either and everything will be on the gold standard. That doesn't sound very realistic and it would take away a money making option with currency exchange (for those who have the patience and resources to do it).

Something else that seems like it won't be around anymore are local politics as it looks like the V1 is going to get rid of mayors leaving less local political activity. Hopefully they will find something else for people to do on the lower level so that folks can get involved. Perhaps Party Delegates would be a way to do it since they wouldn't have to have any actual power. Or even it would be realistic to have Representatives directly elected and Senators chosen by the party (or vice versa) in exchange for the current "Congressman". But what do I know ... I'm a noob ... with 2 subscribers!

Till next time!
