eBelgium versus Ancient Greece

Let’s go back in history before we look at the current political atmosphere we have now in eBelgium. We go way back to the origin of what we now know as Western civilization. It is the year 594 BC. Western Mediterranean area. It was the Statesman Solon who freed the people from Ethans of the very draconic rules from Drako. He did made many social reforming including helping citizens who came in debt and were brought o slavery. He gave them their freedom back. He created a constitution that did right by the slaves and the citizens. This was the first path to Democracy as we know it.
I can tell you a lot more about who gained power after Solon and what difficulties there were but that would bring us to far. I’m skipping a whole period of time to talk about Perikles. He was one of the greatest states man ever lived in Athens. Perikles was for almost 30 years upper statesperson, the front man for the people of Athens! His ability to speak to reason was grand. He had the crowed in his power and meanwhile they were free man. It was called democracy but in truth it was a firm 1 man ruling. His most famous work was his obituary for the fallen soldiers of the Peloponnesian war. He told the men of Athens what values and social structures they should defend against the Spartans. “The state protects his civilians in periods of peace and the civilians need to protect the state in a time of war!” In other words freedom in unisons.
“We have a constitution that isn’t a copy of our neighbours. Instead of copying we are the example. Our constitution is called democracy because she id is not in the hands from few people but from many. In differences the law secures the integrity. The public opinion honours everyone whom exceeds in public life above else. Not for the title the group where he belongs to but because of his values. Poverty is not a reason to not wanting to serve the state, how small his status is. To acknowledge poverty is not a disgrace. What is a disgrace is that you don’t do everything in your power to get rid of it”.
Sparta was unique in ancient Greece for its social system and constitution, which completely focused on military training and excellence. Its inhabitants were classified as Spartiates (Spartan citizens, who enjoyed full rights), Mothakes (non-Spartan free men raised as Spartans), Perioikoi (freed men), and Helots (state-owned servants, enslaved non-Spartan local population). Spartiates underwent the rigorous training and education regimen, and Spartan phalanxes were widely considered to be among the best in battle.
The primary cause of the Peloponnesian War was the growth in power of Athens, and the alarm which this inspired in Sparta. The War, was a war fought by Athens and his empire against the Peloponnesian league led by Sparta. The Peloponnesian War reshaped the ancient Greek world.
So this concludes the history lesson for today and we will go back to the matters at hand. When you know certain figures in eBe, it will come as no surprise to you I used Perikles and the Spartans as a mean to compare. Like in ancient Greece, eBelgium has his own Perikles. His name is ThomasRed. ThomasRed has been a great leader and still is a great leader for the Belgian citizens. eBelgium has gone through many changes during his ruling. I’m not going to describe them all but feel free to look at our eBelgian wiki. I want to talk about the last couple of weeks maybe even months. The active forum using citizens have been rather unhappy. The community of eBelgium who always been a very tight group of people have been growing apart. Many of the people are unhappy with the power BfB has over eBe. Especially Shadowucks who was fed up with the situation after losing the CP election against LeValeureuxLiegeois.
Shadow can be considered the leader of the Spartans. He led “the revolution” that shook up the community.
I feel it was a sad day for eBelgium that RB and supporters thought a PTO of BfB was the way to go. The end justified the means was the explanation afterwards. They wanted a change in eBe. Just like the poleponesian war this political war in eBelgium has had irreversible consequences. Most of those consequences don’t even contribute to positive measures for eBe. Although many good things still happen and the government does its work, people can’t see it anymore because of the shadow of negativity that is all around us. People are sad and looking for a way out. Looking for asylum in other countries or just plain quit the game. As a member of BfB I see no real willingness to end the political war. Talking to “The revolution” has lead me to believe they don’t see the errors in their way either. Shadowukcs is set in his believes that he did the right thing and isn’t ready to talk without BfB giving in on his demands. eBelgium can’t effort a political war like this. eBelgium isn’t a great nation in eRepublic. It doesn’t flourish on wars. It flourishes on the community.

tl;dr
Good luck...
Thank you Professor Mittekemuis for this interesting history lesson 😁
I received PM's from concerned citizens who feel very disappointed in eBelgian politics and politicians, and as said in the article, this diasappointment is harmful for our nation, as some of our citizens can't relate to such a community anymore. Maybe because we're so small and usually not involved in outside affairs, the more ambitious people amongst us are compulsed to dump their frustrations on the community. Something similar hapenned to A Vegan, now it's shadow, there were others before and there probably will be others later. But they're not just rebels without a cause, their frustrations don't come out of nowhere, so the people they're rebeling against (the establishment, in this case it's ThomasRed I'm thinking of in the first place) should not forget to pause for moment every once in a while to do some self-reflection. Elites are the backbone of every community, but they have to be careful not to suffocate it (even with the best intentions), which is just as harmful as the destructive elements (who by the way hope to be the builders of something new in the end). Personal and common interests sometimes conflict, and it's finding the right balance which is the real challenge.
Aldous is right. We need balance, and it is not easy to achieve in game, in RL, or between game and RL. In a community as small as ours, we need to govern by consensus, not by fiat. Luckily, we have some creative thinkers trying to achieve that.
everyone is different. I'm not in a game to make politic,i'm here for the community, strategy and battles. Now, if i don't have that in eBelgium, i move in an other country. Politicians are not here to say to eBelgians, you can't go participate in other battles, bad gamers (you used visa)... We do not have to judge somebody.
It is a free game, that's why i'm not in the army. I want to keep my liberty.
Aldous, I believe all people in eBelgium do what they do because of what they think is the right thing. Sometimes I don't agree with certain decisions sometimes other will not agree with what I do but we should always keep communicating. In my experience talking is the best way for any good relationship either it is foreign or domestic.
And I like to say although sometimes things get said that hurt or get shouted without a proper thought in advance. Don't hold grudges because even the greatest opposer's are human beings who strive for one thing and one thing only recognition that they are a person who needs support from other persons otherwise he wouldn't be human.
I believe Mitte should read some more about the Ancient Athenean Democracy 😛 I'll go annoy you with an article tonight.
