Day 3 and still learning ... earning wages

Day 314, 18:26 Published in USA USA by scrabman

Well, I keep trying to figure out how things work and I'm making some headway. I was offered another job today in the hospital industry and I'm not sure that should take it or not. It offers an additional $0.15 per hour but it doesn't require me to have my health at 100% for maximum payout (something I'm working on since all new players start with 50 health/wellness). Another upside to going with the new employer is that he has several other companies in related industries if you want to cross train your skills. I've been searching for how this works and it would seem it takes 5 days to get level 2, 10 more days for lvl 3, 20 more days for lvl 4, and 98 more days for lvl 5.

Yet, is this the way that we should be progressing? Just on one vector? Or should we be broad basing our skills trying to get each skill as high as we can by switching companies? I don't know the answer. From browsing around it would seem that the higher quality companies need a mix of skills so it would seem that the answer is yes. I don't know how that all works yet though. Further, it would seem that there is some advantage to moving to a more populous area for productivity based jobs due to the labor pool producing more benefits ... or something like that. It seems that I should take the job ... but I don't know for sure.

I've learned more about the military too. Many people join ... maybe even most. Training takes a hit every day though on your wellness so I've wondered what the point was other than that good patriotic feeling of slaving for the man ... or all of us I suppose. Then I started hearing about people getting paid for their military service. Yes, it turns out that if you get assigned to the USA Army or the National Guard you qualify for a weekly pay. This isn't automatic though so you have to make sure you formally contact your commanding officer, by asking your local Congressman or the NSC Commander, who that is. Then you have to submit a form every Friday to get paid. I'm officially in the National Guard now (because I'm not buff enough to be in the Army yet) and my weekly pay should be $10 based upon my skill level. Well, that's all for this article. I've been trying to email a lot of the people in power to ask them what they can tell me. So far almost all of them have been more than happy to and I haven't gotten a shrug off yet. That's probably the best way to learn other than slogging through the various forums (which I've done a fair amount of that as well). Actually, do them both ... and read here too.

Oh, and my military commander sent me this interesting link about the history of eRepublik.
