Historically Gold was valuable in eRepublik because it was the only way to participate in certain kinds of markets. Gold could be used to upgrade companies and buy the best raw material companies; Gold could be used to buy event packs, to make a military unit, or to make a newspaper. Currency, on the other hand, could not be used for any of these things. Currency was good for acquiring weapons and food and most importantly to incentivize tanks to hit in certain spots.
Years ago Admins put a limitation on the amount of gold that could be acquired in the market place (10g a day). This meant getting gold required either patience, a credit card, or a really good account that could win BH and CH medals.
Today all this changes, the most important aspect of gold was the pack buying capabilities. Today, players or even governments can buy tokens with currency to accomplish the same thing. This means that the gold buying community need not buy gold anymore(unless they have a specific use), they can just buy tokens. Tokens are more fluid than gold since no limitation is placed on there purchase or transfer. Players can save up tokens over the year and activate their packs during a big war or event. Usually, if a player wants a pack he must find a seller, and establish sufficient trust for a deal to succeed. Now a player can buy tokens risk-free, from anyone friend or foe and purchase a pack. The typical, I only buy for {insert your nation} and NO ONE else is over.
The only limitation on tokens is that it requires a rich player to buy the tokens and sell the tokens on the market. However, this is no limitation at all. There is hardly a reason to buy gold anymore since tokens accomplish the same goal, have no limitations on transferability and has more demand. You can literally use your credit card to buy 999 tokens. Exchange it for the gold equivalent when you need it, or sell it on the market for currency when you need it. Moreover, the gold cap has been quasi repealed. Players can buy tokens with CC, and just exchange those tokens for whatever gold pack they desire. To reiterate, Tokens buy normal packs something gold never did(Think Blitz or Power Pack). Tokens buy event packs because you can exchange them for the gold equivalent. Tokens buy currency because the market will demand it.

and most powerful players can get free currency, some players can get a patriot medal which gives 1000 cc spending less than 1000cc in food and weapons, so we will see a price increase in Food and Weapons

How much cc/gold when using tokens? I think it is much much more expensive than the monetary market...
I doubt many RL rich players will buy that many tokens as to get the token market going. The fact that the seller of the tokens is hidden and the full price list as well makes it very easy to just make a bot that is selling them keeping the token-pack market going... which means... e.death by the hand of plato's multies (the "hidden players but probably bots") selling the tokens.

It had 11 upvotes on a single entry, versus over 20,000 for the multiple "tl ; dr" entries on the same site. Further, the entry you are referring uses "to read" as a continuation of the same clause, negating the need for a semicolon, which renders it as "too long to read", or "this is so long, I won't bother to read it". That isn't how you use "to read", wherein it means "I will read this later". It's a direct opposite statement to what you claim.
Learn English, CG (or, whomever this sad apologist is).

I believe that because gold is used for medals and other in-game rewards, it will hold its place and most people will not bother with tokens. The game tokens add an unnecessary step in using cc for packs.
IF people bought gold to buy packs, that would be a different story, or if people wanted gold instead of cc for packs. But they don't. Unfortunately, these tokens fill a role that no one wants. The lone few people that would look to take advantage are market-deals, and there is a slim market.
I really wish plato would do something for this game that didnt involve making them money... just once,.. 🙁
