Cake was yesterday, today it's all about the gravy
Lord TJ
We all have conflicting views about the best way to stabilise the economy. Minister Savonrepus has launched an excellent initiative with the national exchange rate currently fixed at 0.08 but there are other factors that will take their time to sort out.
I, for one, am supportive of bold action by the various GMs currently laying people off or reducing wages. This is the market sorting itself out and allowing for reduced employment, yet more fuller employment. Anyone who pays attention to the job market listings over time will have noticed the number of listings being far too great. The opportunities are still there, just more realistic now.
This is where we are at currently, now to the point of this article. It's going to come across as arrogant, but hear me out.
If you asked me the question last week, "what do you think about the gravy train running?" I would have said it was an opportunity for the privileged few. Now - I'm in favour of what needs to be done. The current economic environment is a wake-up call to get involved and take away the opportunities to sit back and collect a coin.
Now, it's about working for it and working well. There is a large pool of talent in eAus and recent calls by Presidential, Senate and Party leadership candidates for more inclusion into public service is the way to go. Now is the time where the Government can bring in new talent on top of the established. This will train the new leaders of tomorrow, guided by the experience of today and will strengthen the public service by giving these enthusiastic citizens a career role they can embrace and get excited about.
It is inevitable that the day will come when the leadership of Government and the Senate will change with established players leaving and set to leave over the course of the coming year - no one stays forever. Isn't it better to provide a smooth transition instead of a thudding set of road humps? That's just good planning.
Cheers!

I am laughing straight to the bank. HA HA HA HAHAHAHAH HAAAAAAAAAA
What your point? Make a point please!
I'll try to do better next time by lowering my IQ so you "two" can understand it.
@infin
It's TJ's campaign warmup.
@Sty
This is why you would make a great campaign manager .. it didn't even occur to me. BonusMAXX!
Fingers crossed buddy. 😛
Sorry if this sounds a little dumb, but I'm half asleep; but is the overall purpose to train up people to do government positions that are currently exclusive to experienced players? If so, then great idea! If I'm missing something or misunderstood it, I'll just read it again after a sleep, in which just disregard this comment!
@Joshua
It's a good question but if you don't mind my saying so - you can't buy experience off a supermarket shelf (love that saying and it's so true).
The only way newcomers will gain the experience, with the ship not coming apart, is by Ministers taking players under their wing and schooling them in the IG ways.
As time goes on, one would expect they would be elevated to Deputy/Assistant Ministers and ultimately equipped for the nod come their mentor's time. The current cabinet has done a good job but this isn't about them - it's about who comes after them and ensuring continuity of Government.
Ultimately it does expand the so-called "gravy train". However, it values enthusiasm and reinforces the value of all citizens to contribute to public service. Those opportunities are, as you appropriately put, not currently available .. and they should be.
