Hello readers!
This is Arcatus, back with the second issue of Arc Bulletin! I am told that 36 votes is excellent for a first article, so thanks very much for the good reviews!

Now for another session of noobish rambling.

Significance of Alliances?
In RL, you have those military alliances like NATO, that people in general almost never ever pay attention to, other than the occasional call to ‘get out of the war’. Those alliances rarely ever affect domestic affairs unless, say, for example, there is a scandal.
Perhaps naively, I assumed that the same would be the case in eRepublik – the so-called military alliances would have some say in diplomacy or foreign affairs functions, but very little in regard to affecting actual events in each country. Simply, I assumed that they would be kinda in the background, a minor issue, much like in RL.
Surely this looks cool, though?
And this too?
That was until I read this during my trawl through other countries’ media. Maybe there are other, better examples, but I've only been here a few days and this happened very recently. Apparently India made an application to one such military alliance, Circle of Trust. Japan is in this alliance, right?
Upon the failure of this application, the Indian president, feeling responsible, offered his resignation to Congress. The outcome of this whole thing is irrelevant (he stayed in office btw). But it showed to me that alliances must be a major part of this game, if they affect even a small country’s domestic affairs so much. Well, that’s just part of the learning process. xD
~ Well, Arcatus, this is a war game. What did you expect?

I must be on drugs to have such an addled mind... xD

Propaganda & Satire
With the premise that this is a war-orientated game in mind, surely there must be some good propaganda? If, say, two military alliances are pitted against each other, surely there would be some such propaganda pieces to make them seem as if they are on the right, moral side? Or perhaps, some satire? I was intrigued, so I decided to look for some.
Instead I get articles like this and this.

Oh great…
To be fair, the NKFV one is slightly amusing, though inevitably I don’t have a clue what he’s talking about. But that’s not the point. There is a disturbing lack of intelligent satire in this game, or at least in the past few days. Maybe I’ll try my hand at being a satirist in future when I understand things more. xD
~ But Arcatus, surely satire is very difficult to pull off?
~ On second thoughts, maybe I won't.
Seriously, it would be awesome if you guys had some good newspapers for me to subscribe to!

Edit: I'm told the two links given above, are actually satire. Well, that only illustrates my point. xD

If I made any factual mistakes or something, please correct me. xD
Thanks for reading!

Nice article....
Great article!
There used to be some good humour, this as a little gem:

But the game is pretty much taken over by lame trolls like dubrovnik and haters. Then again after 4 years of the same old, I guess it is to be expected that people with any sorts of creativity would have either gone into deep hibernation or ran away screaming long time ago.

The Problem with a clever satire to make them seem as if they are on the right, moral side is.....well,
there isn't much in the game that ain't broken or got removed beside war.
So we got wars all the time ,everywhere, often based on boredome (or RL nationalists napoleon complex).
Hard to make fun of it if "because we can" or "nothing else to do" are accepted reason for an conflict.
Good articles, indeed.
