An opinion on eCanada's state of affairs
Crock Crosby
I'm not a very active article writer. It's been over 100 days since my last one. If you were to look through my papers archives u would see I only post articles about things I think are of great importantance.
That being said I'm writing today to sway may PP's opinion in favour of putting me, Crock Crosby, on the congressional ballot.
The CPF has flourished in recent months. We have grown a large pool of active players, who are very talented. Auk Rest, CPF's current PP, has asked potential candidates to post articles to help him decide who will represent the CPF in congress for November.
I've been playing eRep for over three years. In that time ecanada has never been in the position we face today.
We are not a member of any alliance that is capable of defending us and our interests.
We are either largely occupied, or under direct threat of invasion at all times. It can be argued that Canada always being under attack is an advantage because of the opportunity for players to gain "TP" gold.
I don't see it that way.
With us not controlling all our regions our weapon and food production is pitiful. It's like we are trying to fight with one hand tied behind our backs. Low food production is a huge detriment to our younger players who are not able to fight as much and there fore not able to grow into strong soldiers as fast as they could be.
With the rifts growing in CTRL, now is the time to reach out to our oldest and greatest friend, eUSA. We never have, and never will have the strength to Stand against European powers unless we have a MPP and close relations with eUSA. This issue alone is the number one priority the government should be working on.
The other issue of great importance at this time is the burden of high tax's consumers and companies alike are having to deal with every day. The 20% VAT is weakening our great nation from the inside out. It's forced players to shop in foreign markets and also black markets(direct player to player deals, never posted on any market). With Players not purchasing on the ecandain market, tax revenues are slowing declining. This is affecting our ability to keep our full compliment of MPPs we have become used to over the years. We currently have 16 MPPs and it's likely that we will be signing fewer in the next month. four months ago we averaged 23 MPPs at all times.
The final thing I will talk about is our Military Unit funding. The past congress's and MU leaders have been working toward MU's being self sufficient for a long time now. The pace of this plan has been to slow in my opinion. When the current invasion is over, all MU funding should be used to make all MU's self sufficient. Mo more tax dollars should be spent on purchasing weapons or raw materials. If a MU is unable or unwilling to convert to self supply their funding should be cut.
For a nation our size we currently have too many MU's receiving funding.
The top four MU's could quickly become self sufficient with government funding. Four MU's is enough of a choice for players to find a unit that fits their needs. Do we really need fund these smaller political and personal units that are started to boost certain players egos? To many government funded units dilutes the effectiveness of funding, and that hurts our war machine as a result.
This is my personal stance on the issues of the time.
You may agree, u may not.
Either way VOTE CPF on the 25th!

Yup, there's been so much squandered potential to better direct our tax dollars back when we had millions on the bank.Perhaps those changes to the MU Funding Act came just a few months too late. It would have been quite beneficial to get people to deal with less supplies but instead allow the MU to invest in infrastructure. Now it will take a bit longer to do that but it is still a goal worth aiming for...though the timing is very bad with our wipe and RWs nearding

I am kind of the opinion that only one MU, an official eCanadian fighting force should be funded. That would force other personally founded MUs to either become self-sufficient, or at least non-reliant on gov't funding, all the while creating a well funded, government lead, fighting force.
Anyway, ya, good luck.
Low food production???
WE ARE DROWNED IN FOOD AND GRAIN!!! The grain is at 0.01 CAD. It can't go down further.
Every "old" player should give free food to new players.
MPP with USA : GREAT IDEA!
Lower VAT : GREAT IDEA!
"If a MU is unable or unwilling to convert to self supply their funding should be cut" : GREAT IDEA!
"Four MU's is enough of a choice for players to find a unit that fits their needs." = BAD IDEA.
This will divide us.
If small MUs qualify for funding regarding the new self sufficiency policy : FUND THEM.
As a MU commander I can testify that it is very difficult to get the MU self sufficient. I'd rather not rely on handouts in a heartbeat, but funding is dependent on fighting and those fights need tanks. No burnt tanks, no funding. To become self sufficient I'd need to use all funding for months on upgrades. But then that funding would never come because (see previous statement) no tanks for fights.
Any information from the MUs that are self sufficient is welcomed, though from what I've seen of their operations, they have hundreds of thousands worth of upgrades and factories. Not sure where they got that kind of money, but I haven't seen it laying around here anywhere.
all military units should have active commune and players should be apart of it without exception. Government funding should go to these communes to facilitate that they're top notch and with enough resources.
I left CAF because a lot of people were being dicks and judging me by my level....
"If a MU is unable or unwilling to convert to self supply their funding should be cut"
Wait, what?
If an MU can't get off Gov't Funding, then it'll get removed from Gov't Funding?
Is the inverse of that us funding all of the MUs that are self sufficient?
"Oh you don't need our money? Here have some anyway. Those guys that need it don't deserve it anymore!"

Do you know how much it cost to produce Q7 weapons??? let's do some math shall we... So a Q7 comp can use 10 employes, lets say at 100% bonus, = 200 Q7 per day, you'll need 40,000 WRM EACH DAY!!! So 40k WRM divided by 350(saltpeter's mine production) = 114,28... saltpeter mine needed for ONE DAY OF PRODUCTION!!!!! 114 saltpeter x 8,5CC ( the cost of a saltpeter) = 971 428$.
So there you go, it's only 971428$ for someone to run ONE Q7 compagnie fully self-efficiently....
Ohhh and i did not put the actual ''owner'' of the Q7 compagnie, cuz he can also work in his Q7...
BTW, did i put into this calculation the actual cost of a Q7... 600ish gold.
@crisfire: '' Not sure where they got that kind of money, but I haven't seen it laying around here anywhere.'' well for my Q7 and WRM, it didn't come from the GOVT, inb4poeplewhineaboutgoldbuyers...
@ Mugluck
I don't know if any of the MU's are selfsuficient yet. There for government funding should only be sent to the ones who are following a plan to obtain this goal in a reasonable amount of time. whouldn't it be great to Have a VAT of 5% or less someday? With selfsupplying Mu's tax's would only be needed for MPPs.
@weezo1
yes Q7 are expensive. During peace time, 30%-50% of MU weapon production should be sold on markets. Selling portion of production allows for stockpilling WRM and buying/upgrading more weapon companies.
The Holy Order is entirely self sufficient, which is why we don't ask for funding.
We supply 84 q7's per week. We have nearly 400 Salt Peters in total. While we only need 3, we have 5 Q7 factories because our salt peters are split between 4 people.
There is nothing true about "The top four MU's could quickly become self sufficient with government funding." It would take months, or years, for a MU to do this even if they received the full amount, due to the 10g limit transfer.
Moral of the story, they have to buy gold, and lots of it.
Funding could help with Salt Peters, though. But let's say a MU has 100 people. That's 10 Q7s, (holy shit), but we're only looking at salt peters now. Each of those take about 120ish salt peters, if I remember correctly. 120 * 10 = 1200. 1200 * 8500 = 10,200,000.
100 is a bit much, but the point is evident. Luckily, I bought gold and sold it when gold was at 3k. Now... good luck.
Q7' weapons make no economic sense and have not since they were introduced. Maybe if they had a Q7 resource factory to go along with it.
players complained about the low value of RMs. a year ago new players were making small fourtunes doing nothing but building RM plants. Then the Admins made a game change that sunk the price of RM( can't remember what caused the crash in prices. The introduction of Q6 then Q7 weapons and food have brought the RMs back to being a somewaht profitable enterprise (WRM more so then FRM).
If a Q6 or Q7 Rm was introduced .....MU's would benifit but individuals would suffer
Lets join EDEN!
One thing I'm wondering since I'm new around here, why don't we have a left party ?
