Airforce

Day 1,771, 08:29 Published in USA USA by creitzell

This is my first ever article. I'm a terrible writer, so bear with me. I need to thank some people.

The day I took over command of Airforce I was inactive for most of the day. My first login wasn't until midnight local time. I planned on requesting supply, fighting, and going to bed. I knew that Roper was planning on resigning soon, but I did not expect what ended up happening.

When I logged on I wasn't surprised to see the alert that I was now the mu commander. I was totally unprepared for everything else. I logged on to irc before really looking at any of the shouts on my friend and mu feed. Israel Stevens pinged me as I was trying to figure out what happened. I told him that yes, I'm staying. I was confirmed as Airforce commander and then the fun began.

While I was talking to Israel Stevens, I was also going through my mu page to see who all left. Most of the officers left. We lost our supply bot and our roster. The only ones who did not were emdoublegee, Arrden, and burfo. Both Arrden and burfo had been away irl recently, so I did not know about them.

I posted on my mu feed about how I was in command now, and to please bear with the chaos over the next few days. I sent a pm to emdoublegee and Dr Luis Sentieiro saying you both are now the XO's if you accept. Then I had to go to bed.

I work 7 to 3 est, and rarely am active during that time, so I was away for a while. When I logged in the next day, I found that emdoublegee made a quick gdoc to handle supply. john nwp also stepped up to push people in the right direction. I immediately promoted him.

The next few days were pretty chaotic. I neglected the captain elections. (in hindsight a mistake) Dr Luis Sentieiro tried to get a good list in, but we were so busy. We ended up having to direct votes so the approved captains got elected. That evening, Arminder joined #airforce asking if he should be moved to vote for captain. For doing the right thing, I promoted him on the spot. He is now an outstanding officer and qm.

Arrden and burfo also showed up right away asking what they could do to help. burfo is very good at coding, so he went to work on a supply bot. Arrden now does a significant amount of our qm'ing.

Airforce is stable now. We have a roster. We even have a supply bot. We now have all supply requests done on irc.

I want to thank everyone who has helped out.

emdoublegee and DLS, great job with what you have done with the roster, and backing me up. Thank you.

burfo, great job with the bot. It is working great. Thank you.

John nwp, you put in a lot of work pm'ing people, qm'ing, and with the roster. Thank you.

Arrden, you stayed around when everyone left, and then stepped in to qm. Thank you.

Arminder, great job. I kind of blindsided you. Thank you.

Firo Prochainezo and TTi09, We would be nothing without the money and effort you put into the communes. Thank you.

Wow, that turned sappy at the end. As I said, I'm a terrible writer. I'm sure I also missed a few thank you's for that I apologize.
