A Rylde Christmas story Endgame

Day 5,510, 15:45 Published in Canada Canada by Rylde

So Otis was lost Christmas day while we were on holidays and its now Jan 7th with me back at school. I missed my moms radio show plea that morning already headed to the bus stop unhappy it wasnt quite cold enough only at -34 for the buses to stop running.

Halfway through that morning of classes I get called to the office and after the usual oooooooohhh from my classmates i make my way down to discover my moms there.

The first words out of her mouth were they found him, he's at the railyard. To put things in perspective he was lost at the downtown vet clinic and made his way 8 city blocks east to the local CN railyard. My older brother was already on his way there and we immediately made our way as well.

We arrived just in time to see 8 railway workers chasing a small ball of white through a field of snow. The chase was at an end as whatever they were chasing powered out shortly after we arrived and he was caught. We barely had time to get out of the vehicle before my brother yelled at us that he would meet us at home.

Pugs are small thick sturdy little creatures which are prone to have some extra meat on there bones. Once we all got home what we saw was disturbing. He was skin, bone and fur, with every bone visible especially along his back and ribs. Otis's cries and whines of joy quickly made us forget the sight and we all took turns loving him with hugs and pets.

We had eaten stew the night before and after he drank his fill we gave him a small serving that disappeared in his bowl in seconds. For fear of putting his body into shock we waited awhile till feeding him again.

So apparently the railyard workers had a husky pup who lived at there work chained up with a doghouse full of straw and being a bunch of rednecks didnt pay much mind to a small stray hanging around that they caught glimpses of as it quickly ran whenever they saw it. We figured the husky was sharing his food and doghouse keeping Otis alive as there really isnt much else for an explanation.

My brother bought the railyard workers a flat of beer and there husky a fat bone from the pet store and we called the radio station thanking them as they had heard my moms plea that morning and searched the railyard. That call and those guys listening to the radio is what saved his life.

Alot of things had to happen and go right for the lil guy to survive that cold holiday but he did it and being 3 years old at the time lived to a ripe old age of 13 kicking the bucket around 2004 which is long for a pug or so i hear.

This is a true christmas story in my family that we bring up yearly reminding us of our favorite dog and as close to a christmas miracle that ive been a part of. Not every story has a happy ending and we were lucky to have one especially one i can pass down to the girls even though they never met Otis the super winter pug.

They say never give up and lose hope because you just never know how things will turn out.

Merry christmas yeah plebs and thx for reading.

Xavier Blue aka Otis nearing the end.

And now you know the rest of the story.
