A Plea for a Different Strategy

Ok this game = bad. No = awful.

I went to post this article after writing it and because I didn't select a category: nothing. Erased. Lost. Wasted effort.

Also under military campaigns, our resistance in Australia was listed as the battle of the day. Went to it and it tells you it's over. Awful. 5 years to get to this point.

The problem is that I am having a hard time recommending this game to others. My gamer friends would laugh at me considering how bad it is and the lack of exciting gameplay or depth of strategy.

But this is EXACTLY what we need. Noobs. The mechanics are basic. Have more players = do more stuff. eRepublik is hardwired this way. It's a business.

eChile would be stupid to let us go unless forced by a larger country. Yet, we can encourage others to make bad decisions and ignore the gameplay. If this diplomacy works, great! But diplomacy usually only happens to join a larger player pool for offense or defense.

I think the model UN that goes on behind the scenes gives hopeless nations a chance to feel like they're doing something. It would be alright if the game rewarded that. But all it really does is turn what's supposed to be a game into a rather strange way for people to hang out online. A model UN game could be fun but this is not it.

I am happy to consider who I can recruit. People do wander here by chance - like ME. (And most are thinking they don't want any more ME's on here!)

If we have any hope, we need a new strategy to focus all our efforts on getting more players. I stand ready to help if I could just figure out how to find the noobs.

More importantly, THIS NEEDS TO BE PRIORITY 1 OF THE GOVERNMENT. Screw Chile. Things can't get worse than they are right now, and the only hope for things to really get better in the long run is to do this.

There is a historical precedent in that when new territories were settled, the local governors or magistrates always set about as their #1 priority encouraging new settlement.

Government needs to put this diplomacy bs as a lower priority. What would happen if our experienced players came down out of the ivory tower and started interacting with and coaching new players? Even if every current player just did this once it would make a HUGE difference.

I'm begging you to pay attention to the basic facts of the mechanics of this game. It is the only strategy that has the possibility of working.

PS - I post on the site because it's the greatest chance that other noobs will see it. No one posts on the fora. IRC requires the right timing, and then getting on at the right time when there is a substantial discussion and not just idle chatter.
