A Journey through eRepublic

Day 2,519, 23:34 Published in USA USA by Moon Kitty

Allow me to introduce myself, I am Moon Kitty and I have been playing eRepublik for about 24 hours. Yes I am a female in real life and no I am not available.

I have decided to take you on a journey of the game as seen through my eyes. I will try to give you some insights as well as my personal views and experiences with eRepublik as well as the other players I come into contact with without, revealing any names that have not given their permission for me to use.

It all started with the Welcome mail I got from the President. Not knowing anything about the game, I clicked the links inside and did as it suggested. Needless to say, I ran into a glitches almost immediately.

The first thing on the list was: 1.) Join the USAF MU, our national military: http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/group-show/26 - Nice advice Mr. President however, you do not let the new person know that there are various other military units to join. Shame on you for the blatant plug to be the first to recruit an ebaby to your MU.

The second thing in the mail was: 2.) Join a political party! http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/rankings-parties/1/24 I’d suggest a party ranked in the Top 5. Top 5 parties have the largest and most diverse communities. – Nice advice however again you left out a detail, you have to have xp before you can do this so it being the second action you recommend was basically useless and very frustrating. On the bright side, that link got me to the party’s page where I found irc chat rooms were available.

Encouraged and familiar with irc, I quickly tried to join the main channel for the first party only to be frustrated again by needing to be a “registered” user. It would seem that if you want to help ebabies you really should have at least an open intro channel. Luckily I do not give up easily, I explored the party page a bit more and found that the Black Sheep not only had an irc channel but I did not need to register my nick to join it.

I met all kinds of very friendly and very helpful people in the irc chat room and much to my surprise, not all of them were members of the Black Sheep party which, I found very friendly and encouraging.

Before I knew it help was pouring in from all over. Great advice, helpful items and best of all, I made some new friends so, I my advice to all ebabies is to jump into the irc channel of your choice and get to know those that have been around for a while. In my experience so far, they are all very helpful and friendly.

I will cover more of the welcome mail in my next article in this series.
