A horrid habit that is causing us battle losses
Oinyo
Why oh why are people more and more holding back until the last possible second in battles before they unleash everything they have in the hopes of getting a BH.
Just right now I am looking at the score.
1 hour and 2 minutes in and the top scoring dmg is 4125
Last round it was 6293 until 1h 29m until 3 people tried to snipe. Their scores added 92469, 79458 and 78726
If these players actually helped during the fight instead of rushing at the last seconds to try to steal the BH we may have won this round. Instead we got the lead and had to wait a extra 10 minutes until Poland decided to add more dmg to the mix.
Worst thing I have seen to date is someone just today blowing up bombs on both sides just to try to get the BH's. They attacked Canada as a Canadian to try to get a BH... wow
Just my rant and a humble opinion. The habit of doing nothing a battle until the last second has to stop.
The worst feeling anyone can get is when they are about to win and someone snipes all their hard work away "just because". This person could have used that to win us the next battle but they threw it away for personal greed and weakened our country because of it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this

Very good article Kevin, what you described is a very much normal thing in eRep. Sad to say it, but many people will only fight for the BH's. I would suggest you getting screen shots of fellow Canadians who are doing it, bringing it to the attention of the CAF or at least fellow comrades may humiliate them
Either way don't get to worked up by it, we can still make a difference with good communication. Sometimes one or two soldiers can win a battle simply by keeping the right amount of pressure
You have the workings of a good soldier, PM if you ever need anything bud

oinyo, you're going to learn eRep is like that in a few ways. You can play for the team or play for yourself. The rewards for playing for the team are less rewarding and less obvious...you'll pay more tax, win fewer elections, and earn less BHs. Doing it for yourself is fun and profitable, yet it will come up short in the long run...unless you want nothing else out of the game. Anyway, eRep could have been a team game but they made it a private mastercard battle enhanced by shady gameplay

Unfortunately real life sometimes reflects that too. Also like life, if you take a step back, some things like BHs become smaller. Life goes on and people move on.
I'm guilty of that lately 😃
I ain't saying she a gold digger, UH, but she ain't messin with no broke people, UH
I agree with you. It is also rather displeasing to fight all along the battle, actually become the soldier designated to receive a BH medal, and then see some sniper taking it... Unfortunately, getting the BH medal doesn't work if you don't do some last minute sniping... I earned my first BH like this. The least I could do was to give up the gold to the player I took the BH from, ten minutes before the end.
I agree with Plugson
It's true people should be putting more into the fights mid way through, even if they intend to snipe at the last second.
If someone can snipe a BH on the polish side without pushing the wall into their favor, then I'm personally all for it. Why would taking the polish BH and having the gold/bomb go to a Canadian rather than poland be bad? There's a difference between a team player and a smart team player
I had a fellow Canadian steal a battle medal from me nearly a week ago when the wall had no reason to be pushed further. It's sad but part of eRep life I suppose. Great article Oinyo.
I don't have money to spend on eRep very often. If I go for a BH medal, its because I saved up bars for a month or so, and I want the best chance of getting the medal, so I would of course pile on the damage in the last few minutes of the battle in hopes it ends before someone else can top my total. I haven't done this recently, but I'm sure that is why you see this phenomenon happening. It's not disloyalty, its trying to maximize one's effort toward a chosen goal.
You can't just put up a damage number and then say "hey, i'm first now, no one can top me." IF that was the case I would have a bunch of BH medals now, instead of the one i got today. You want a BH, you have to put up your number, and be ready to add more to it near the end. They way the game has been made promotes a benefit for holding back and not shooting it off early. Blame the game, the system, but you can't blame someone who puts up a higher number than you just because...
you put yours up earlier. Guess what, your higher number beat someone's number from before you. You can't "dibs" a BH medal, it isn't handed out until the fight is over, so you have to keep fighting until the round ends.

I think everyone who is going "after" the BH medal holds a little bit back at the end, it's the only way to really win it over others who are doing the same thing. However i completely agree that you shouldn't JUST wait until the end to do all your damage. You do need to save something big for it.
And now that you mention it... i'm seeing ePoland with 2k for their BH on the other side... *debates blowing one zooka on that side, and two on ours....*
I agree - if you are going for a BH, you should at least put in most of your damage early enough to stake a claim - at least if a few interested parties decide to plunk down 1MM damage, then atleast it keeps the damage level with the other side, possibly allowing us to accumulate some points. It's meaningless to drop down lots of damage at the end of a battle when trailing for most of it because it's a waste. The other side will go extra hard to win if they are say at 1,700 with 30 min. rem.
for the first battle i really invested in in the new erepublik i managed to grab battle hero off and on for the first five minutes of the fight, i really don't think someone of my level should be able to manage that.
I had an irate message from a player accusing me of "stealing" their BH (ignoring that they won it in the end) because I dropped 1.3M dmg in a battle (which was what I do on average per battle). I fight to help my country over the line, not to score a medal - but if one falls my way, I'm not going to complain 🙂
Some players just want to do the bare minimum to get the BH medal and don't care who they're fighting for. Which sucks imo.
voted and subbed. there are so many battles to pick from (typically 5 RWs in Poland if you're too cheap to spend the 20 CAD to move), why don't you go hunt for a BH in some Egypt - Saudi Arabia RW? if you fight for Canada, make us win the battle. then go have fun with your gold-digging.
A house divided against itself cannot stand...Are we here to fight the enemy, or to fight each other, just to win BH? I'm fairly new to this game, so I'm still making lots of mistakes, but I'm a team player. If the line is past the 50% mark, and we're winning, why would I want to waste my resources, just so I get a BH instead of my teamate? Why not save my resources for the next battle, or check out our allies' wars, to see if I can push the bar over the line for them?
Nice article 😁
actually most BH I see in past few days, the person went all out like 1.3 million in Div 3 in first few minutes
