Election Recap

This month marked another exciting election here in the eUS. After last month's extremely close race between John Largo and Molly Emma, many were hoping for yet another thrilling referendum on our country's future.


Both of this election's main contestants (John Largo and DMJ) took to the media posting their own articles to advertise their campaign. John Largo announcing his campaign with his article, "The Power of Change"; and DMJ announcing with campaign with his article, "The Time Has Come". Both of these admirable campaigners releasing multiple other articles before the election actually began, getting the nation stoked and ready to vote.



Surprisingly, once the election finally came around, the numbers ended up being unexpectedly stagnant. This reporter checked up on polling results in the morning, afternoon, and evening. The percentages rarely fluctuated at all throughout the day. John Largo maintained a stable 36-38% of the votes while DMJ maintained between about 49-51% of the votes throughout the day. So in the end it wasn't the nail-biting follow-up race I'm sure many of us were hoping for, but it was an exciting race nonetheless.


A big congratulations to DMJ, who won the race with 50.56% of the votes. Another to John Largo, who ended in second place with 36.32% of the votes. Hopefully next month's election will be even closer and more like last month's, as I'm sure we would all enjoy the entertainment. Thank you all for reading!

Hello Nation,

I would like to begin my column by thanking the eUS government for giving me the legitimacy of the WHPR to express my many opinions. Whether this was a good idea or not wasn’t something they considered. No, DMJ and I are much alike. We aren’t “factinistas.” We shoot straight from the gut. We both say what is on our mind, and let the so called “fact checkers” argue over whether what we said actually made sense. So thank you DMJ. Thank you for giving me a voice in the government’s official newspaper. Thanks for throwing caution to the wind, and letting me speak my mind. Thank you DMJ for believing that just because someone regularly makes xenophobic jokes, that fact shouldn’t disqualify him from writing a column that allies with poor English skills could easily mistake as official eUS policy.


With that out of the way I just want to say that this column isn’t really about me. Sure it is titled “Colbert’s America,” not “’s America” but don’t let that fool you. This column is really about you, the real heroes of America. And who are the heroes? The people who read my column. You’re not in the elitists in the backroom IRC channels (I know because I haven’t seen you in any of them), no you are the hard working average Americans who make this nation great. But you get it. You come from a long line of “it getters.” You are the folks that say “somethings got to be done.” Well you are doing something right now, you’re reading this column. And in this column, you are heard. In the form of my words.



Earning A Living

First I want to congratulate DMJohnston on his successful campaign for President, America is in good hands.

Like most citizens of eRepublik I live from day to day. The reason I do this is because in the New World there is no economy. So. How do I make a living? The first thing every new citizen needs to do is join a Military Unit (MU). The official government MU (GMU) in America is the United States Armed Forces, however there are also many fine PMUs in the New World, such as Easy Company, Seal Team 6, US Military, SHIELD and the Bear Calvary. USAF, Easy and SHIELD all have what I call Academies. Easy has the Military Fitness Academy, SHIELD has HAMMER and the War College and the USAF has Flight Training and the Department of Defense Strength Enhance Program all of these Academies offer gold per week for working a commune, strength training everyday and not fighting -unless called up for a war in some far flung area of the New World.

Another great program is the DoIs Bank Up 2 Strengthen Up (BU2SU) program. This is a privately funded program run by donation, managed by Trikstir, which also pays gold for activity. Free Gold is for assistance in Upgrading Training Grounds (TG). Gold Rewards are based on activity and involvement with in-game Political Parties and Military Units; both of which have Internet Relay Chat (IRC) rooms and forums. New citizens are advised to not purchase Companies nor the corresponding Raw Material, upgrading your TGs is the most important aspect in your early life; after all this is a War Game.

The requirements are as follow:
1. Be a American citizen at or between levels 21-28
2. Do not belong to any anti-American Party or MU
3. Read the instructions and apply
4. MUST fill out that form DAILY, after using Training Ground(s), to receive Gold payment WEEKLY
5. MUST apply at least 5 CONSECUTIVE days to get minimal Gold reward for applying.

There it is America, two excellent ways for a 'blue collar' citizen to earn the gold needed for the all important Training Ground upgrades. It is -IMO- very important for a new citizen soldier to hit Division 2 with at least 50000 strength; my personal goal is 100000. Currently the name of the game is always this: High In Strength, Low in Level. So get out there an start a newspaper and write, join a political party and get a 'jerb' with them; join IRC, the many forum discussions and always remember this is a social game....



War Map & Analysis

So, how about that 2x Determination for Serbia. Holy BatSH**! They have run Poland through with absolutely no resistance. Serbia has won ten battles and will not stop until they've run out of real estate. That's ok though. Once the bonus is gone, Poland will kick them back out. Until then, enjoy your summer homes, Serbia.

Speaking of determination, Romania is using their 1.5x to attack Russia. They will make easy work of whatever they want. It's possible, there is some training war/land-swap stuff afoot, but I'll leave it to the well-informed readers to educate us on that. Romania has been enjoying the bonus against Bulgaria for the last ten battles, winning easily after Bulgaria won the first few. With only four regions left, Bulgaria could be wiped before the bonus wears off. Good luck Bulgaria.

While the gang-bang of the United Kingdom has ended, the War with Canada rages on. Rather than going for core regions, which I assume they will RW back, the UK has attacked mainland Canada. They will win in Newfoundland and Labrador. Can they continue to march on? Would be interesting to see the UK win a war against Canada. We'll keep our eye on it.

Up North, we have quite the battle raging, with Asgard working on a couple fronts. Norway is battling with Lithuania. Lithuania has won two great battles and is poised to win a third, having a giant lead at the time of publication. Lithuania is teaching Sweden the value of NOT attacking, winning twelve battles in a row in the war. And Latvia is doing work against Belarus. They are up 2:1 in their first battle with Belarus. Onward ho, Latvia!

Chile is putting Greece down, at this time. Chile has won eleven battles in a war versus Greece. Even without the 2x determination, I'd wager Chile would be doing very well. They are leading by a mile in Sicily and do not look to slow down anytime soon. Viva Chile!

It appears our ally, Turkey, has conducted a successful Airstrike on Moldova and is winning easily. I guess they thought they'd have some fun. Closer to home, Mexico and Colombia have a little war going on. I recall the last one was a training war, perhaps this one is, too. We shall see.

New Administration-New Goals

Today marks the first formal White House Press Briefing of the new administration of the United States, of dmjohnston. First and foremost,the current administration would like to fervently thank the administration of, President Emma for her undisputed dedication to public service, and the assistance to her nation and fellow man and woman.

But, the White House would like to affirm to the American People, one and all, that the Administration would like to acutely change functions of this nation to further benefit not only our nation, but our common man and friend. It should be well noted, that our nation is bonded together not by our extraordinary wealth, or land size, or economy, but it is our great diversity of values and willingness to fight for those values, that makes our nation so great. That we are strung together as one, under a united banner of hope and freedom, principles that held strong since the inception of this nation.

To keep our values sincere and worthy, it is important that in some cases, conflict may be a justifiable mean to achieve such goals. Many of our greatest fighters, and most noble citizens are in military units, units which indeed strengthen our united front to make us a more powerful force then ever. Effective immediately, as stated with the President's inauguration's message, the President will make it a priority to offer a open hand in unity, to further strengthen one of the most powerful groups not only in the United States, but on the face of the world.

Furthermore, the President and his administration will be individually contacting all departments of the federal government to assess their needs and services, to make the federal government more effective and efficient. It is established that a federal government which is productive in it's own means, functions the best for it's people and for the service of it's nation. In addition, departments under the current administration will be evaluating possible additional employees to prepare for the essence of the administration, to make sure that each department has all that it needs.

Lastly on the dmjohnston agenda, the White House Press Corp would like to acknowledge that formerly, there was a minor situation in regards to the state department. The President's choice for Secretary of State has seemingly gone inactive for the time being, and at the decision of the President and his Chief of Staff, distinguished member Derphoof has been placed by the administration as the acting Secretary of State.

In conclusion, the new White House Press Corp is enthralled by the new opportunity of working with a recent administration. It is with bona fide excitement that the White House Corp take this new opportunity with grace and pride, to help spread the message of the administration further.

To say that working in the West Wing is overwhelming at times would be quite an understatement. My new digs are far more ostentatious than those I had when I was Deputy last Term. Things move fast, the phone never seems to stop ringing, there’s all kinds of meeting and the WHPR Staff has been incredible to work with. Anyway, back to business. The President asked me to meet him in the Map Room.


When the President asks you personally to do something, the things you had as your priorities are no longer that. Thankfully President dmjohnston took the time to teach me some protocol when handling guests to The White House.

The President introduced me to Uncle Shylock.



After The President went over proper procedure and we all enjoyed some coffee, Uncle Shylock asked if he could present something to the President. He apparently had a gift.
He began unwrapping a large object that appeared to be a framed piece of canvas. He explained that the piece was called “Art DecoTerribad”

The President was overcome…with something that can only be described as euphoria. The President then removed a black velour box trimmed in gold which was emblazoned with the Seal of The President of the eUnited States from his jacket pocket and presented it to Uncle Shylock. The President explained that Uncle Shylock had done such a good job on the piece of art that he deserved a Gold Star. Inside the velour box was this…

Uncle Shylock seemed thrilled to have been bestowed such an honor and asked if this would appear in the WHPR for the entire Nation to see.

Now I see how fit in to the picture. I serve at the pleasure of the President.
