Congress Update

J.A. Lake

Blacklisting was the hot topic this past week in Congress. A flurry of motions to blacklist some, unblacklist others, and find an alternative to the blacklist became topics of conversation.

First came the Amnesty Bill, a bill seeking to remove from the Permanent Congressional Blacklist (PC😎 23 members of Bear Cavalry placed there in December of last year following the illegal December 6 Revolution. A wording conflict ended the bill before it came to a vote, leaving the blacklist untouched.

While Congress deliberated on the Amnesty Bill two high-profile people on the PCB, Wooky Jack and PilotPhil, issued official statements acknowledging wrongdoing in December. This kicked off proceedings to remove them from the PCB, which began two more discussions about a mechanism to make it easier to remove people from the blacklist. These discussions made it to votes, and both citizens were removed from the PCB.

A minor controversy erupted surrounding Jimmy Cincinnati's effort to be unblacklisted, submitted via private message. A spirited debate began over whether or not the apology would be acceptable, and in the end it went to a proposal that breezed through Congress in under an hour and finally to a vote that looks to pass.

In the midst of this another thread began about an alternative to blacklisting, an interesting albeit short discussion about what truly can be done to punish those found in violation of the law. Few alternatives were found, though blacklisting was discussed as a weak tool of enforcement it was found as better than none.

Congress had a busy week, full of discussion focusing on the Permanent Congressional Blacklist. This topic is of a great deal of importance due to the potency of blacklisting from a purely meta perspective and the impotence of it when one considers game mechanics- it is essentially the starkest demonstration of the ages-old game mechanics vs. metagame debate. It is a debate to follow, however, as it is potentially a bellwether of the citizenry’s position with regards to the strength of metagame.

Having several Training Wars simultaneously means having precise coordination and communication with your NSC/FA group, and even your TW’s administration. Today (5/24) we have a High Priority of Shannon in Ireland, with an abrupt Airstrike started by Lithuania.

Our focus will be to use today’s HIgh Priorities with the Low Priorities to overcome the obstacle that is faced when gaining the right amount of Domination Points per Minute. Like every resource that we’ve gained so far, coordination between both sides’ administrations will be imperative so that we can safely achieve the resource we’re after. Priorities can be seen by Clicking Here.

Here’s a couple of resources that we gained so far, check out the full list of Resources to see what we gained overall:
