I liked the bit in-between the pictures
I think a lot of people have in fact overlooked the artistic value of this article. The two pictures are both eyesores- the viewer doesn't particularly want to look at them, forcing them to gaze into the cool creamy colour in the centre, directing the viewer towards the straight and narrow, focusing them on the task at hand.
The fact that the two pictures flank the blank space also creates a deep contrast: the world we live in has good and bad.
