Day 1,074, 21:20 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by eUK Home Office
The military is one of the key parts of erepublik for many players, mainly for its fantastic and vibrant community and also its free weapons and food which enables you to do more for your country and your allies across the eWorld. Currently, the UK Military consists of the Royal Logistics Corps, the 3rd Mechanised Division and the 5th Infantry Division and finally the UK Special Forces

Why is the military important?
The military is important as it maximises the damage the eUK does in battles and is also currently our only organised fighting force. It is also highly mobile meaning the eUK can send soldiers round the world at the drop of a hat, meaning our nation can contribute more to our fantastic allies in Phoenix.
The army is a large ready for mobilisation force with weapons and supply chain that can keep with it mean we can contribute to the alliance we have with Phoenix.in exchange for working for army companies soldiers get given weapons and battle rations as well as a modest wage being in the eUK army is something to be proud of - you are contributing to your country by helping to defend against the EDEN forces
and there is a good community to join - join up, meet people, make friends that will last an eLifetime!- UK Army Chief of the General Staff Field Marshal Artela

The Branches
As I said earlier, the military is split into four branches with different functions. The first is the Royal Logistics Corps, which is tasked with keeping the Army running smoothly and is also the home branch of the Army Training Corps. Its command contains a GOC, who is in charge of the branch and four Staff Officers who help run the branch.
The second branch is the 3rd Division, one of the main fighting divisions of the British Army. It contains soldiers from all backgrounds, and is split into 2 brigades, the 1st Brigade and the 12th Brigade, which are commanded by two Brigadiers with a GOC in command of the whole branch. This branch is a mobile branch that requires IRC activity and workimg in an army company is compulsory. It makes up one part of the eUKs main attacking force during strikes.

The third branch is the 5th Infantry Division, which is another of the main fighting forces of the British Army. It also contains soldiers from all backgrounds however its membership criteria is slightly different, with the ability to move abroad and IRC activity both not compulsory. It is split into the 49th and 143rd Brigades with the 49th being for people who work in army companies and 143rd for people who don't want to but other than that it follows a similar command structure to the 3rd Division. It is the other branch that consists of the main attacking force during strikes.

The final branch is the UK Special Forces, an elite branch that contains high strength soldiers and aims to maximise their damage, by sometimes giving out more food and weapons than is given to other branches and in some important battles they could potentially be tanked. The criteria for membership is to have the Field Marshal rank or above, to be a Veteran or above and finally to be able to move abroad.

The Career Path
The Army has a very hierarchical system, with ever step of the way from when you join to being the head of the army mapped out in the form of ranks.

Trainee
This is the very lowest rank in the army, as a member of the Army Training Corps. As a trainee, you are expected to read the myriad of guides available on the UK Military Hub's Training Area. You are also expected to be active on the ATC IRC channel. Once you have done all these things and have remained active on irc you will be given a test. If you pass you will be transferred to the regular army and into one of the three branches.

Private

Once you have passed through the ATC and have been put into a branch you become a Private. Privates are the everyday soldiers who are the basic backbone of the army. You are expected to be active on IRC and the military hub and in most brigades to work in an army company. You will take part in strikes with fellow soldiers and take part fully in the great army community and if you are seen to be a good soldier you should move up to a higher rank pretty quickly.

Colonel

The position of Colonel is one step up the ladder from Private and puts you second in command of your brigade, receiving orders from your Brigadier. You are expected to be a model soldier, with high levels of activity and a solid work ethic. Your main role should be assisting the Brigadier run the brigade which can include things like checking activity and sending the Brigade pms.
If you do all this well you will soon be promoted to take charge of your own Brigade.

Brigadier

The Brigadier is in charge of one of the four brigades in the military and therefore it is quite an important job. You will need to keep track of your soldiers and make sure they attend strikes and monitor their activity and in some brigades whether they are working in Army Companies. If soldiers fail to meet the army's high standards then Brigadiers are also responsible for discharging them from the army. If you are an exemplary Brigadier who stands out from the rest, you may get the chance for another promotion...

Major General

Major Generals, more commonly known as Staff Officers (SOs) currently only exist in the Royal Logistics Corps and are charged with doing different jobs throughout the branch and the army as a whole. Their main roles include managing Army companies, keeping the supply chain working sufficiently and helping the other branches run smoothly by helping to lift the supplying presssure on the branch commanders. Some Major Generals are also tasked with the running of the Army Training Corps. If you are a great Staff Officer the sky's the limit...

Generals

Generals or GOCs (General Officer Commanding) are the people in charge of branches and members of military command. They are in charge of making their branches run efficiently and run the branch companies and are the branches leading suppliers. They are also in control of the appointments in their regiments so if you want to get a promotion they are the ones you should impress.

Field Marshal

The Field Marshal, also known as the CGS (Chief of the General Staff) is the head of the Armed Forces, which makes it one of the most important roles in the UK and the pinnacle of anyones military career. They are in charge of the entire army and have a hand in everything from managing army companies to relaying the orders sent by the Phoenix or the PM. The CGS works closely with both Phoenix command and the president to ensure that the army is deployed and ran in the most effective way possible for the UK and its allies. The role is very tough and requires huge amounts of effort and takes a great deal if time.
