[UKGov] Fantastic Forums and Incredible IRC

Day 1,076, 21:13 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by eUK Home Office
This two-in-one article deals with two highly important assets of eRepublik and the eUK community: The eUK Forums and the IRC. Both of these are essential in communication, planning, and fun. If you haven't checked out these two places, here is some information which will show you what you are. missing

Part One: eUK Forums

Think working, training, fighting and eating is all that ever happens on eRepublik? Think again! The eUK Forums is the central hub for 90% of the activities and events that happen in the eUK. Seriously. From greeting new citizens to government planning, this place has it all.

Maybe you read that it is a good thing to join the eUK Forums and an important part of the game can be found there.

Certainly, you can think that: I play eRepublik, so why should l join a forum which I think is useless because you can live an e-life only with the game. It is probably the biggest error that you can make.

This is a picture of a citizen before joining the forum and just after

What can you find on the forum?

It is simple : almost 90% of your e-life !!! The eUK forums is the place where you can find the UK community.

When you join the forum, you will have access to a huge part of the game, and you can easily talk with other citizens. You will know almost everything in eUK.

You can find a huge amount of information about:

- Economy

-Diplomacy

-Military

But that is not all. On the forum, we talk about many legislation and projects to improve the e-life of the UK Citizens.

If you are a member of a political party, it is the good place to ask access to the private subforum of your party. Private political subforum are the best place to talk about political strategy and also meet the members.

Do not think that you are useless and the forum will give you nothing. A lot of players (both new and old) who joined the forum learned to be useful for eUK. Some of them are members of the congress, others are part of the ministries or are a part of the military command.

Your age doesn’t care when joining the UK forum, to become an important citizen of eUK, there is only two things who are really important: Fun and Motivation.

Well, join us on http://forums.erepublik.co.uk

Part Two: IRC

IRC is a brilliant part of the erepublik community, it is where most of us talk the most and is the community's primary method of communication. There are numerous channels, for parties and the military and every erepublik country has its own channels. But most importantly IRC is where most of the fun in erepublik happens!

Joining IRC
There are two ways of joining IRC, browser clients and downloadable clients. Browser ones are easier however Downloadable ones offer many more options and are therefore what I would reccomend.

Browser IRC Clients

QCHAT
One of the easiest ways of joining IRC is to use the QCHAT client provided by Rizon, the server that we use for IRC. By using QCHAT, you simply visit the page, type your nick in, and click Connect. Simple as that!

Mibbit
Using Mibbit is an alternative to QCHAT. It is just as easy, you click the link, select Rizon as your server, type in your desired nick and click Connect. The only differences are in styles, some prefer to use Mibbit or QCHAT over the other.

Downloadable Clients
There are various downloadable clients that you can use, including but not limited to Chatzilla,mIRC and xCHAT. Each of these have their own specific instructions on installing and use, and are only recommended for those with experience in installing and using programs.

IRC Commands
These are the basic commands you should know to have a basic understanding of IRC.

Join a Channel
To join a channel just do:
/join #channelnamehere
Some channels require a password, in which case you do this:
/join #channelnamehere passwordhere

Identify Your Nickname
Identifying your nickname is an important part of IRC because it enables you to join pribate channels without needing a password. To register simply do:
/msg nickserv register email desiredpassword
You should then receive an email confirming your registration.

Now you can identify your nickname every time you sign in:
/msg NickServ identify Password
On some IRC clients you can set it to do this command automatically, however on web clients you have to do it manually.

Here is a slightly shorter version of the comman😛
/ns identify password
Remember to do this carefully, making sure you don't put anything before the slash, because if you do it will be shown in the channel and your identity may be stolen.

Change Your Nickname
Changing your nickname is important, because sometimes you will want to tell people that you are away or busy and indicate you aren't available to speak to. To change your nick simply use this command
/nick newnick
You cannot have spaces in your nick and long nicks may be problematic.

Get Someone's Attention
To get someones attention, simply type their name with a colon, this will make a pinging sound and in some clients will tell them who you are pinging.

Speak To Someone in Private
If you have something to say that other people don't need to hear or is secret information, then you really should talk to the person privately. To do this, just do:
/query theirnamehere
This will open a new window when you can chat together in private.

IRC Channels

#euk: This is the UK's public channel and is a great entry point to the world of IRC and can be a lot of fun.

#army.training: This is an important channel because it is one of the ways you can join the army and if you apply on this channel your application will be quicker. If you don't want to come on the channel you can fill out the application form here.

Party Channels:
These are the public channels, they also have private channels that only party members on the forums can join.
NB: The IRC links will only work if you have a client installed.
