Erm... while it is true that modern Greece has nothing to do with Ancient Greece aside from the location where they are.. half of Europe are descendant of Greece colonizations, that even developed quite different language, cultures, etc... modern Greeks are heirs of Ancient Greece, cant be denied... so are Macedonians, some parts of Italy, some parts of Spain, some parts of balkans, etc.
Greece had waaaaaaaaaaaaay too many heirs, just like Rome had a lot of heirs too.
But... while i say its nice to know the past history... its stupid to discuss who is more "pure greek". You are from the land you are, and you wouldnt hesitate on helping a real life Greek on a real life crisis, and a real life Greek wouldnt hesitate on helping you on a real life crisis because you are neighbours. No matter who is descendant of who.
The point is that, having problem with your own identity cant not allow you to dispute others identity...
