Ghost of Tom Joad

Party Presidential Announcement:

After a great showing in congress, a slump in the number of members has lead to a flood of people asking me; "WTF is going on?"
I won't make excuses, because that's what our spokesperson is for, but I promise that I'm not wandering off.

I ran a democratic process, from the roots, which included everyone in the party. I sent weekly updates and published, almost, everyday.
I'm to stubborn to believe that it wasn't what most people want. so, I must be really bad at it. In the next cycle; we must elect a new leader. I'm not running for Party President.

Freedom Party is big in the media, but most of our time is invested in civic duties.
Most recently, we have been striving for change in the eUS constitution. Essentially, it says; "Congress may do as it pleases, and those who say otherwise may take their complaints and shove it." (A quote by J.A. Lake.) The freedom ideology puts a lot of stress on the congress members. This is something to consider when we go into the next election cycle.

The Case for a New Constitution

I've examined the Constitution lately in an effort to seek the legal basis for what happened to the SFP's Congressmen, and prior to a hush-hush vote done while opposition Congressmen were excised from Congress making what happened legal I found little in the way of law in the Constitution.

My conclusion is that the Constitution as-is provides a flimsy basis for any law, and guarantees no rights to citizens of the country- this allows Congress to do whatever it wants to whomever it wants whenever and however it wants. In fact, the infamous Self-Organization Clause of the Constitution essentially allows Congress this capability.

Compared to the real Constitution, the eUSA's is laughable.

In reality the Constitution lays out the US Government, defining the organization, principles, and directives of the three branches of government and in the Bill of Rights laying out the rights of every US Citizen. In reality, Framers of the Constitution realized that it was lacking in that regard, and as a result a year following the ratification of the Constitution the 39-amendment Bill of Rights was introduced to the House of Representatives. Two years later, in 1791, 10 amendments were ratified and added to the Constitution.

This did not happen in-game. The e-Constitution was written solely with Congress in mind, and as a result the Executive is powerless and there is no Judicial branch. You can see here that the Constitution is practically useless, serving only as a forum thread to be pointed to in order to justify Congress' latest crime against the citizenry and their duly elected representatives. Where there were amendments added in reality to curb the Federal Government's power and to empower the citizens of the USA, in the game we've just recently seen an Amendment made to further depower the Executive and render it subservient to Congress.

I cannot stress enough: Our Congress is the true Dictator. It must be changed!

A new Constitution would serve primarily to limit Congress' power. There can be no amendment of the current one- as it is, it is irredeemable. We must start from scratch. Off the top of my head, here are a few changes that should be considere😛

1) A Presidential Veto. Allow the Executive to reject Congress' laws if they are unsuitable.
2) A Supreme Court or Department of Justice should be added. Citizens should be allowed some kind of legal recourse if they feel they are mistreated or their rights are threatened.
3) Transparency! How many people knew that there was a Constitutional Amendment passed recently? Who knew where to find the Constitution? A law unpublished is a law that cannot fairly be enforced.
4) RIGHTS. We have none!

Thanks for reading. Put more SFPers in Congress if you want to see this change- we have a body of skilled younglings that needs experience, as well as idealists and revolutionary thinkers. The eUSA is hopelessly crushed beneath a dictatorial Congress, and we are the only ones who see it and fight for change!

Winter Reminders for eRepublik
Joey3790

With Winter in full swing for most of the USA, it seems like a good idea to go over a few tips and reminders so that everyone has a safe and pleasurable season.

-- Hypothermia and frostbite can do worse damage than 10 bazookas. So, wear clothing that will keep you warm while on the icy-cold battlefield. Long sleeves work the best. That also means to pack those mittens that Mom gave you for Christmas and leave those flip-flops for the 4th of July.

-- Make sure your vehicles and tanks are Winter Weather Ready. Make sure you have your snow tires/treads on and a full tank of gasoline/fuel. Be sure to have available a complete emergency kit. You never know when you will be caught up in a heavy winter storm and get stranded in a snow drift.

-- As mentioned above, have an emergency kit ready. This should consist of a warm blanket, bottles of water, a cell phone charger, plenty of Energy Bars, any Q7 weapons you can spare to ward off any hungry animals or eSerbians, a current issue of SportsIllustrated or Summer themed book to pass the time (Summer themes help as it keeps your mind on a warm topic as you slowly freeze to death), and a first aid kit for any minor injuries that occur in the meantime.

-- If the cold becomes too unbearable, please don’t forget to stop by Congress for a few minutes. There is a constant supply of hot air that seeps out of the debate room. Rest assured, you are not required to listen to a single word of what is discussed. Just remember to thank your Congressmen/women for providing a warm place for the public as that harsh winter wind bears down.

-- Keep on hand some moving tickets so that, as a last resort, you may be able pull an old “Canadian Goose” and fly south for the Winter. I hear Florida is quite nice this time of year.

Please keep in mind that these are NOT guidelines, but rather simple tips and reminders. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure you are prepared with what you personally need to survive Winter. It only takes a few minutes to prepare, and that could save your life later down the road.

This has been brought to you by your friends in the Socialist Freedom Party, who want everyone to enjoy a safe and happy Winter season (We’d rather not make hospital visits if we don’t have to).

Party Sponsored Programs; Correct Me If I'm Wrong...

While carrying out my duties as a mentor for AU, it came to my attention that our friend's at AMP recently shut down their MRE program on December 18th 2015. A great party sponsored program which served the public for a long time.

With that said I'd just like to take a moment to say kudos to SFP for currently being the only Political Party in eUSA to have continued a party sponsored weapons/food program open to the entire eUSA citizenry. No hoops to jump through, no nonsense. It's a program for free food and weapons for all eUS citizens regardless of political affiliation, level, etc.

If you're unfamiliar with the Socialist Freedom Party's Rainy Day Tank & Food Program, here's a little background information. It's an initiative that was officially started in the days of old (Day 2,304 to be precise) by former SFP party president, Captain Recks. The program continued to evolve under other SFPers in line with SFP's values and became the awesome public resource it is today.

Recks is a player that needs no introduction for many, so apart from keeping it 100% 24/7 and being a noble senpai, he was also the player that originally roped me into Bear Cavalry (Ursa Fi!) and warmly welcomed me to SFP when I was just starting out. The sense of community I felt at SFP at that time actually got me to stick around this game which had been reduced to monotonous two clicking for many.

The program is currently ran by another fantastic and friendly player who I'm sure we'll only see more great things from, EdgarFigaro. Comrade EF has and continues to go above and beyond in his duties. Not even including his work as an AU mentor and elsewhere, the amount of time invested into keeping the SFP Rainy Day Program running smoothly is staggering. EdgarFigaro's selfless dedication to such programs that serve the eUS public is a shining example of the sort of players we should all hope to become. We may not all be able to dedicate ourselves in the same fashion, but we can still strive to help our fellow players in different ways.

Now I would be remiss to if I didn't mention that there have been a number of other SFP comrades we owe thanks to. Comrades who've been integral to not only keeping the program up and running for nearly 700 days, but it's continued development.

Gratitude and thanks to you all for your service to eUS. Know that your hard work is appreciated and be proud of what you've help create. o7

Simply put, SFP's Rainy Day Program is currently the only program that offers free tanks and energy to ALL eAmericans.

It's become a resource for all citizens that embodies the spirit of SFP, a party which has always striven to work towards the good of all, instead of the few.

The link is generally included in these releases, but here it is again.

With that said… what if every T5 party in eUSA began or renewed a similar initiative?

SFP isn't the only political party to ever have a party sponsored program of this nature, but I do hope that such programs are renewed or began by other T5 parties who genuinely seek to serve the public good, pro bono omnium .
