[Holiday Submission] Bhane Day

Day 3,111, 12:47 Published in Ireland USA by Raven Anarcho

I submit December 5th as Bhane Day, an eIrish National Holiday, in honour of both Bhane and Ireland's victory and wipe of the UK.

When Bhane accepted my citizen request, I was but a few days old, and I quickly discovered the wiki site and dove into a treasury of eIrish history. It inspired me to come active socially as a writer in the game, and no other event in history was I more interested in than the wipe of the UK, an unfortunate 7 months prior to my joining the game.

THE BATTLE

In November of 2011, Ireland was tearing into the UK, assisted heavily by her allies in EDEN, especially Croatia. Under Bhane's leadership in early December 2011, a temporary peace treaty was offered for the holidays, but rudely rejected by the UK, leaving the war to linger on. But the UK would soon regret their decision, as London immediately fell afterwards, and without enough time to start a resistance and win it back before the end of Bhane's term, he became the first President to ever wipe and hold London at the end of the term.

THE MU

At the later end of his e-life, Bhane was often the hardest hitting Tank on the battlefield. His MU, Rollta Bais, was originally the Bremen Club House, a British PTO attempt against Ireland. When Bhane took over, he transformed it into one of the strongest MUs Ireland had ever seen, with him being the only member in most of its active existence.

To this day the MU message feed is preserved. The last post was from Grainne when she briefly joined the MU. Prior to that is conversation of former BCH members boasting about their PTO efforts. Bhane preserved this conversation to look back at it, cheer himself up, and remind him of Ireland's victory over the PTOers.

THE MAN

His legacy is both hailed and criticized for his views on e-economics and his opposition to communes, as well as his opposition to IRC, and influence in utilizing national message threads within game. Nobody, however, fell short of respecting his commitment to Ireland on the battlefield, his calm neutral and often peaceful approach to politics, or his generosity towards players in need.

He always stated that the highlight of his in game career was the fall of London, and being such a glorious victory I think it's fair that December 5th, the final day of Bhane's CP term, should be known as Bhane Day.

THE HOLIDAY

It's important that in honour of Bhane this day would be celebrated exclusively on erepublik, not IRC. A national strike, (maybe the UK?) a national giveaway to help younger players, and articles in memory of the glorious battle as well as the leader of it would all be held on this day. But most importantly of all... WE WILL TRY AND TAKE OVER THE WORLD!
