Before you do anything else, please get yourself some MORE GREELING.

Dear Citizens of eUSA,

Thus far I've laid out some of my vision for a brighter, shinier, happier eUSA.

Artist's rendition of Gnilraps' America

One newcomer to the PoTUS race has obviously read every word of my vision and made the unfortunate mistake of thinking that all we plan to do next month is smile at each other and blow smoke rings at each other.

Although...

But actually I have been hard at work (and since putting this cabinet together it's gotten a whole lot more fun) putting together a comprehensive platform filled with much substance. The first set of planks I'd like to reveal to you is the Defense Platform.

By "Defense", I am not talking about Military Strategy. That stuff tends to not get talked about in public anyway, and has more to do with Foreign Affairs. No. By "Defense", I am talking about the oversight of our United States Armed Forces. It also expands into a few other areas. You'll see what I mean as you read on.

Gnilraps' March Mandate for the Defense Department

Develop the CivMU (or like unit) into a booster strike force

The introduction of MU-wide boosters presents a paradigm shift in Military Mechanics.

A rich culture of diverse Military Units has contributed much to the social environment in eUSA. It has also made us strong, because fierce solidarity breeds pride and cooperation. America is wealthy in loyal MU’s.

However the full potential of that wealth will go untapped under Plato’s new Military Boosters unless we respond to them with wisdom. (Boosters will be a regularly recurring feature, appearing about as frequently as Gold sales. I’d guess at least 1 week out of every 4.)

In order to become a more powerful America, our Defense Department, in conjunction with the NSC and the Department of the Interior are hammering out plans to introduce a Unified Military Unit which will make use of Booster Mass Attacks.

The purpose behind this is quite simple. Every time a Damage Booster is activated, it costs the same no matter how many people are fighting with it. In fact, unless a certain number of people fight during the Booster (and that number is mostly dependent on the market price of tanks), it could have been cheaper to convert the Gold spent to tanks.

But if enough players are fighting when the Damage Booster is activated, the 20 Gold spent on the Damage Booster produced more damage than the same amount spent on weapons distribution.

If 6 different MU's spend 20 Gold each on boosters in a Mini-Battle, and if the average number of fighters per MU who take advantage of that booster is 15, then 90 soldiers will have received 8 minutes of boost for 120 Gold. That's 6 minutes of boost per 1 Gold.

However, if those same 90 soldiers fight in 1 MU, and they spend the same 120 Gold on 6 boosters, those same 90 soldiers will each receive 48 minutes of boost for the same Gold expense. That's 36 minutes of boost per 1 Gold.

So America needs a Booster MU.

Now I will be the first one to celebrate the value of belonging to “my MU”, whatever that might be for you. So at no time should this new MU be seen as a morally superior choice. If a player wants in, he’s in. If an entire MU wants to “merge” in, we merge them in. Remember, the goal is to produce as many people hitting under the same MU flag at one time as possible.

So our planning is taking into consideration the very real possibility of moving entire MU's into this Horde, allowing them to maintain their identity and independence, also allowing them to maintain their own commune structure and distribution networks, but collaborating on booster-laden mass attacks with many others.

Temporarily nicknamed “The Horde”, this new MU program is currently in planning stages. Stay tuned for developments.

Celebrate our National Campaign Heroes

If we are going to fight as a Nation, we need to also party like a Nation. Every day, multiple times daily, our fine warriors from across all of America’s MU’s are killing enough of our enemies to be considered a Battle Hero. But who are these fighters?

America needs to celebrate its heroes. When a member of Cannon Cockers swings a mini-battle against Canada, all of eUSA should learn about it. When the Special Forces or Ultramarines put 4 fighters into the top 5 in a critical fight, all of eUSA should be celebrating. If it’s a member of S.H.E.I.L.D. swinging the big stick, I want that soldier paraded down our virtual Main Street with confetti and ticker tape.

Yes, these are actually Russians, but it seemed like the right Military Parade picture to use... Also, check out the camera man. Why in the world would he want his camera so low to the ground...??? hmmmm...

And so I am proud to introduce a new joint venture between the Department of Defense and the Department of Media, The Department of War Media.

War Media may at times make use of a war map or two, but that will not be its primary focus. War Media will be working around the clock to identify Americas Fighting Heroes. Then they will be celebrated in the Media so that all of eUSA can know the names of those helping us keep our lands safe from our enemies.

This will be far more than simply copy/pasting the little BH and CH images provided by eRepublik. War Media has already been working on a set of metrics which they will use to truly honor those who are getting the job done for us in battle.

Continue to build trust between private MU’s and Defense

Nobody understands the beauty of being in a private Military Unit better than I. It’s been part of my game for a long time. I have also been a Captain and Media officer in the Special forces (I bet some of you didn’t know that about me!) and am a multi-term Secretary of Defense and NSC Director. As far as I am intellectually able, I understand the issues of Public and Private Military Units.

It is part of my platform that healthy relationships between all of our fighting forces yields an overall benefit to our Military Preparedness.

I don't expect every MU in eUSA to suddenly move en masse to the "Horde" Booster MU. I believe that the "Horde" concept will take some time to build. Frankly, there will be some MU's who will simply remain fully independent. Fine with me, to each his own. We will always have multiple MU's in eUSA.

To this end, our Secretary of Defense, in conjunction with our NSC Director and the Executive will be strongly emphasizing open lines of communication among all CO’s and XO’s in all friendly eUS MU’s.

We have a major role to play in Sirius. Our Allies don’t just look at the USAF when measuring our strength. We are also measured by total damage output. The better able we are to coordinate our damage, the more we will find ourselves on the leading edge of Sirius.

This will be done.

This will be done together.

This plank doesn't have a number. It's just... another Plank. Tyler and Aramec are welcome to include this Plank in their plans as well.

Branch Review - Secretary of Defense

There are a variety of complex questions that our next Secretary of Defense is going to have to seek answers for. It has always been considered a function of the SoD to have ready information about the USAF MU’s. March 2014 will be no different.

The goal of Review will be to support every Unit in their efforts to become leaders on the battlefield. So while past reviews have focused mostly on economic efficiency, March’s review will focus on Social Activity.

The Secretary of Defense will be responsible, in addition to the standard duties of funding disbursement and logistical oversight, for heightening morale, increasing social activity, and in the end, facilitating growth.

As our place in Sirius continues to develop, we as a Nation must decide how we will position ourselves militarily. We as a Nation must decide if we will weaken ourselves with poor planning, missed opportunities, and fractured might. We as a nation must decide if we will strengthen ourselves with wise foresight, utilizing game mechanics, and collaborating on the common goals. We as a Nation must put our collective boots to the Asterian Asses.

We as a Nation much choose a leader for our Defense.

I, our Secretary of Defense David Wilson, our NSC Director Deepchill, and the entirety of our March Cabinet are the best choice our Nation can make. Plan to cast your vote for Gnilraps Greeling on March 5.

I gladly invite your participation.
