[DMV4CP] How we are Killing eRepublik!
DMV3
Lately I have heard a lot of complaining about how Plato is killing this game, but the truth is we are all responsible for the decline of this game. Plato is running a business, we as individuals on the other hand are running our respective communities. As members of a community it is our responsibility to maintain that community and make the game more interesting for ourselves and those we play the game with.
As communities, over the years, we have begun to rely on the Plato controlled portions of the game more and more. Where once we created things for ourselves we now focus entirely on things outside of our control. The game has been dumbed down, the economy has been made to benefit those who spend real life money on it, these are facts that we must move passed so that we are able to focus on the things we as individuals and nations can actually effect.
What can you expect from a DMV3 Presidency?
I have filled the three most crucial Cabinet positions for my next term; Vice President, MoFA, and MoD. These positions will be filled by three individuals who I believe are fully capable of handling the tasks of dealing with our allies, enemies, and the nation. Outside of these three crucial positions I will be giving full control of decision making to the Canadian people. This does not mean I will not be giving my own input into these ares, but ultimately I will be letting the people of Canada decide a large portion of our nation's course for the future.
I am a controversial character at times, but I am also someone who works hard for our country and enjoys providing entertainment to our community. If elected I can ensure the people of eCanada that I will provide you with a strong government, leadership, and entertainment. I'm not asking for your obedience, I am asking for your trust and participation. If you're willing to give me those two things then together we can make our country not only better we can make this game enjoyable for all of us again.
What I expect from you?
I am a strong believer in the fact that those who control this country and game do so because they're the ones who actually show up and do the work. I, for one, am happy to allow others to take control of our country as long as they are willing and able to do the work. In order for this to happen you need to pitch in and participate. Open your mouth, pitch your ideas, stand up, and take charge of the situation. If elected, I will be looking to let eCanadians assume positions to influence policy and lead eCanada.
During my term the people of eCanada will be asked to provide input regarding entertainment/community activity, in-game/off-site recruitment, new government programs, a chance to help build a better country, and to participate in all government departments. We have reached a point where the government must be inclusive of the people in order to keep the game interesting for our community. With your help we can make this game interesting for all of us again. In my next article I will be announcing the three Cabinet Ministers I have selected, give those interested in participating in the government a chance to sign up, and outlining the details of plans for the next month.
Long Live the eCanadian Reich!

Nice article. A few hours ago you posted a comment saying everyone knows you are a dick. Please show us you are wrong.
I can definitely be a di** when necessary. I can also be a troll, a leader, and a hard worker. I play this game to make it interesting for me and others.

"but the truth is we are all responsible for the decline of this game."
Well, no.
I blame the CPF
I for one blame that crazy bastard Homer J Simpson 😛
But I am in the CPF.
I blame Temubutt
We as a group are responsible. Not just current players, but players who left. As long as we continue to play the game as Plato intends for us to play it he makes money and the community suffers. If I'm Plato I want all the free loaders to quit so I need less servers, and whatnot so I can cut my overhead. I then want players to spend money on the only working module. The fact is we can harm their ability to make money and still have fun. This is the only way the game changes.
if the game is attractive, reliable and has a future you can turn free loaders into visa players. Now its the other way around.
You have no proof.
Kudos to DMV for maintaining the oomph to keep it up.
😘
I've been the official and unofficial head several groups through out the years in eRepublik, so I am very aware of the job of creating and promoting activity in this game to enhance it's play-ability. Sometimes though, you get tired of trying to sell the lemon and you need the lemon makers to make some sweeter lemonade.
I get that, I enjoy community building, and sometimes it does begin to be a chore. The fact is we can create our own fun in this game. We just have to tell Plato to go Fu** himself while we do it.
I haaate lemonade. Should go with a mango instead. Those are delicious. And you make a valid point.
PTO is obvious.
Don't blame me for this crappy game.
Poop in ya throat?
I blame Obama.
Supported from Norway!
The problem isn't that players let the meta-game go, it's that Plato made it obsolete.
When I started this game the meta environment was alive and vibrant because it had to be. You needed the organization and structure outside of the confines of the game in order to be successful within it. When the top fighters had 9 fights a day, and hit for 100's instead of 100's of thousands, a community needed to come together as a cohesive group to outwit, outsmart, and outplay their opponents.
Timed strikes, real MU's, actual strategy, that's what was needed to not only win battles, but wars. But there in lies the problem. In those days, the game wasn't actually the game. This is where you clicked, and made things a "reality", but the game itself was played on forums, in chatrooms, and every place but here. But how do you turn a profit when you're a game board? How do you make revenue of off what amounts to little more than a scoreboard for a game that people are playing somewhere else? It's simple. You make the game they're playing obsolete.
No one can singlehandedly push battles when you make 0.05 strength a day, and the top tanks have 29 strength? Let's invent Lana and put her to work in training grounds.
People can't spend money very fast when the most wellness you can restore is 10 at a time, so let's create "energy bars".
People are fighting a lot more than they used to, let's create WAM'ing so production can exceed demand.
People want to do bigger and bigger numbers per hit, even though they don't actually mean anything if everyone is doing them, so let's make higher and higher quality weapons and food to make it happen.
People don't want to rely on strategy to win battles, so let's add massive gold packs that create "super tanks" and let them swing entire campaigns with the power of VISA instead of the power of teamwork.
The fact of the matter is, the community around this game didn't die - it was murdered.
And the people who cry and moan about all the money they've spent and how they're not gonna spend another dime on this game until it gets fixed need to realize that they're the ones that made it happen.
I agree with your points, but at the same time we all could have done more to stop it. Yes, Plato made the meta-game irrelevant, but we let them do it. With COs super tanks can't as easily swing battles because of the number of people a high CO attracts to a battle. The fact is as long as we allow battles to be the only relevant part of the game Plato wins. We need to focus on other things and avoid battles for the short term. If there are no battles to fight in Plato can't make money. The longer we're able to effect their income the more likely they are to listen.
There used to be a day when we all saved our Gold (since it was the only way to tank - no such thing as EB's) and high end weapons for the day when our country was in a battle (which was rare) - Now the military module is a non stop dumping ground and battles for every country come and go like the changing of underwear
Putting aside your presidential aspirations for a minute...
I don't really think we're killing eRepublik, but I do agree that we could do more to keep it alive.
Now, looking back to your presidential aspirations...
Eh, I'm not eCanadian, so I don't have much stake in this, but best of luck nonetheless.
I agree with Muglack's comments. Before retiring TCO we tried anything and everything to bring back the enjoyment and activity levels of old but with the game the way it is we were simply pissing in the wind
I didn't know you old fellers could control when or where you pissed...
Half a Viagra does the trick
Your wife says it takes more than half a viagra.....
I'm talking about pissing straight 😛
Freemium games are inherently set up as unbalanced, unfair systems. For those reasons the spark of ingenuity and creativity of players who have to rely on actual talents to compete with the premium players will fade and eventually go out as the balance of power shifts more and more to the gold buyer over the community builder. On a long enough timeline, the scales will always tip to profit over "our dear players".
the game sucks now and ill bet most of us are still around holding on by a thread because of the people we know and the time/money invested in our citizen
people need to stop buying gold so that plato starts listening instead of sending generic responses that sometimes dont even match up to complaint tickets, problem tickets or comment tickets.
つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Give TROLOLYMPICS
It will start next week.
Trolling won't revitalize the community or the game, we're all trapped here in purgatory whether we like it or not.
I'm confused. Why would you want to revitalize the community or the game? I thought the goal was to make eRepublik even more miserable.
In high school our teacher had a game called Lemuria (which I think he developed himself) that we played as a module in grade 11 social studies. It was in many respects similar to what eRepublik attempts to be. However, the key focus was not on War, but rather on economics and social development. This was the experience I was looking for when I joined eRepublik last month, and what i would prefer.
But as a newcomer to this community and as somewhat of an outsider, I actually find eRepublik to be quite entertaining. If it is but a shadow of its former self, it must have been something glorious. Perhaps as with all mmpg's when the older players grow tired of the game and it no-longer is new enough to attract new players, it should simply be put out of its misery so that it can be remembered for what it was and not as what it has become...but as a new player, I just dont believe we are there yet.
More pictures of ducks in hats please. I laughed and laughed. They look like tiny water-loving-egg-laying communists. That sh1t everywhere.
Now what where you saying?
true, although I still blame Plato for greed, I agree that some players have killed the game by cheating and their boring personality.
DMV deserves to be CP
I would vote you, but I HAVE to vote Rylde, even though I don't want to .3.
we all suffer
This article is both correct and incorrect. It is correct in that we are the ones that control the market, decided what to do such as battles or whatever which can then lead to our leaving and so forth. However the bigger problem is being caused by Plato (and the other administrators if there are any) due to the fact the game is pretty much the same as it was 3 years ago (I can only relate to that time) except for the weaker economy. Yeah there have been slight changes such as daily challenges but that just added to the more mindlessness of clicking for the game. But people get older, and people get bored of doing the same thing. Where Plato has failed is to keep the game interesting and spruce it up, change things up every once in a while and the changes can't be for those who spend money. If he does that, people will join and stop playing after a week because it is all about paying money instead of doing anything else, even more so where there is basically one thing to do in this game. Right now, the game is pretty much work your day and click on the fighting and then sell your excess if you have any (lower levels usually don't have extra unless they save it). It is pretty much just war after war after war and nothing else. There is nothing to encourage economy or anything really other than war and that is where Plato has failed and has ruined the game. It's boring, o be honest, the only thing that keeps me playing is watching all the little boy scouts (yeah, you DMV and whoever else whines back at you plus other stuff) whine and complain.
