[AV] An Economics Manifesto

Day 714, 14:22 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by AltmerVampire

Sup eUK

As I promised, this is my Economic manifesto for the upcoming elections. Economics has never been my strong suit, but I will do my best to deliver a strong manifesto that will show that I am fully qualified to help direct our countrie's economic policy. So, let's get on with it, eh?

A little preamble never hurt anyone though…

The eGlobal Economy is in a very difficult position. Companies are going out of business, wages are plummeting, and prices are wildly flucutating. These problems affect us all, as I am sure you are all aware. For a good reason, no one is particularly overjoyed with our situation. I cannot promise you that I can fix this. Many of these problems are largely systemic and solutions will have to come from the Admins. However, I will do my utmost to fix what I can and to bring a sensible solution to the eUK's problems. We will make things better.

That is what I stand for. Not promising the moon, but doing what I can to bring you a star.

We are blessed to have several economic experts in the eUK. I have been honoured to work alongside and to speak with people like Draaglom, Arthur Wellesley, RRS, and DillTheDog. They have all helped influence the policies that will be forthcoming in this article, and they are all fantastic economists. The UK would be in a terrible spot without their tireless work, so we should all thank them. So, without further ado, let me outline my plans to bring us all a nice economic gold star.

For the record this cat does not represent me xD It's just so adorable :3

Point Number 1: International Co-Operation

As I mentioned before, the problems we face are not native to the UK. This is due partly to faulty economics and production models within the game. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel with the upcoming new economics models, but that's not part of my manifesto, now is it? Goodness no! (I refuse to be blamed for it should that module go down the crapper.)

The UK can only do so much on its own to solve these problems. We need assistance, and we need to work together. I have already spoken to individuals in other nations about a potential cooperative effort to solve these problems, and their reactions have been positive. I am not afraid to seek international cooperation, regardless of political alliance. Ministers of Finance from all over the world will be invited to a Global Summit to discuss the problems and to work out courses of action that will benefit everyone, including us at home in the UK.

Point Number 2: Restructuring of the current Economics part of Cabinet

Currently, we have three departments in our government tasked with economic goals. The Chancellor of the Exchequer heads up the Treasury, which oversees the Bank of England and the various apparatuses involving paying the bills and making us money. We have the Ministry of Trade which collects data and tries to offer advice to businesses, as well as a Ministry of Work that provides Skill 0 jobs that would not ordinarily be provided by domestic GMs.

Should I be elected, I shall merge these three departments under the auspices of the Treasury. The Chancellor of the Exchequer shall primarily be concerned with general policy directives and acting as the mediator between myself, the rest of the government, and the departments underneath him (or her!). This will be similar to the economic ministry that Kumnaa introduced with the Ministry of Economics, but will be better organized and similar to the successful post of Minister of Defense and Foreign Affairs. The Chancellor will oversee the general direction. The Head of the Bank of England will oversee the budget and the treasury, and will control our various means of currency trading. The Ministry of Trade will continue to pursue it's preexisting domestic goals, and will also play an important role in international negotiation and cooperation. The Ministry of Work will also continue it's previous task, but now with a more direct connection to the Bank of England. This will make it easier to keep a balanced budget, and for more accurate book keeping, as well as allowing the various economic departments unprecedented cooperation and mutual reliance.

Point Number 3: Dealing with the Department for Work

As you may or may not know, the Department for Work has been in a complete shambles this last work. It hasn't actually worked well since Woldy was in charge of it -- which is rather ironic, since you'd think his Government would have been able to build on the success he had as Minister of Work. But, unfortunately, that has not been the case. The Minister of Work originally failed to keep the companies filled to pay wages or with raw materials, then the Minister went AWOL, and then the Acting Minister actively attempting to give over around 1000 GOLD worth of materials to foreign agents. Quite frankly, it's been a bad term.

How should we solve this? Partly by reorganizing the Ministry of Work under the new economic apparatus and rewnewing it's purpose. It should be there for more than providing new citizens with jobs -- it should encourage them to get more involved in the game. The Minister of Work will be tasked with ensuring all new workers are PMed, directing them to the forums, and to provide them with 'survival guides' to help their time in a new game to go smoother. The Welcoming Committee (which will be explained in the Domestic Manifesto) will work hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Work and together we will aim to create a flourishing and vibrant new community of active UK Citizens.

Point Number 4: Planning for a potential babyboom

I will look into a plan to ensure that we have money set aside to keep us secure should we have a successful babyboom (more info in my Domestic Manifesto). The money will be set aside for new citizen fees, for expanding the Ministry of work, as well as for advertising the UK's wellness guides and the forums.

I will be looking into ensuring we have money set aside to keep us secure if plans are successful in a potential babyboom for the UK (more info in the Domestic manifesto). A realistic budget will be drawn up, set aside and be used when the time when this boom occurs comes. The money will be needed for our new citizen fees, new DfW companies to provide our new people jobs to keep them in as well as heavily advertising the UK’s wellness guides etc and of course the forums.

Point Number 5: The Military

The UK has not in recent months done as much tanking as it used to be, and for this, I am thankful. Personally, I believe that a citizen army is the best army. In this, I mean that spending more money on the lower ranks to provide them with Q1s to rank them up quickly is more effective in the long run than spending thousands of GOLD on tanking. In the short run, this may seem counterintuitive and may decrease the damage we do, but in the long term this should create a much more organized military force that will be able to do much more damage.

Point Number 6: Monetary and Fiscal Policy

I intend to direct my economics team to take another look at the tax code that is in place to see if it is running efficiently and if it is possible to ease the tax burden on our citizens. I will be seeking a fiscal balance -- that is to say, I aim to balance the needs for government funding with a desire for citizens to have their taxes lowered as much as possible. As for monetary policy, I plan to take another look along with my team at our current system of regulating currency benchmarks, and I intend to set a major goal for my Premiership to seek out international cooperation to benchmark currencies against other currencies.

======================================== =========================

And I do believe that is all my economic plans. I’ve covered everything I can think of and I do believe this is what the country needs to improve.

So thanks for your time,
AV,
Your presidential hopeful.
