[AV] A Military/FA Matter

Day 832, 12:26 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by AltmerVampire

Sup UK,

Here we are a few days until the elections, in full swing. As said in my previous article, Cabinet Applications are open here. So please, no harm in trying really.

So here is my military and foreign affairs manifesto. To begin with, I’ll state my expertise is largely in these subjects. I have held several positions in the military, and have been Minister of Foreign Affairs along with holding multiple ambassadorial positions in my time in the UK.

Foreign Affairs

As I’m hoping you all know by now, we have signed peace with the invading forces of EDEN. Was this a surrender? Was this a cowardly way out of a war to aid our allies? Was this a bad decision? No.

We will now be able to commit our forces, and that of Phoenix, to aiding Germany and France, rather than letting our damage be wasted on a war which wastes everyone’s gold. We have declared peace to save our country. But there is no way in hell we are letting EDEN ravage our allies.

We are members of Phoenix. And I am immensely proud of the brotherhood of nations we have formed. We will not turn our backs on our long term allies in Germany and France, even if the French have not joined our alliance.

It is for this reason, that for every battle for the liberation of France and Germany and for our alliance, UK troops will be fighting as hard as we physically can be. No matter what it takes, we will stand up against the EDEN oppressors and show them the true brotherhood, loyalty and friendship we have with our true allies. It may be a long and hard struggle but the UK, under my leadership, will stand with our allies every step of the way, even if it means spending a pretty penny for it.

Another long-term ally for us, is the Irish. Some people may say this is more of a figment of some people’s imaginations. Personally, I’ve always had warm ties with the Irish. Which is why I have been disappointed with the latest events, what with the whole occupation of Northern Ireland shizzle.

What was more disappointing, was the single most ridiculous, yet offensive article I have ever seen in eRepublik. I am, of course, referring to President Savage’s article during the Resistance Wars. I have the pleasure of subscribing to Miss Savage’s paper, and thought it was quite interesting how she seemed to have an inflated view of… well, just about everything. It made our victory much sweeter, and made myself and the Paras working with me, that much more determined to win that battle. And we did win that battle.

Many people will point out that our military is far from the strongest in the world. But it is bloody well organized. And I can honestly say I am immensely proud to have served it in so many capacities.

But anyway, back to Ireland. Apologies for the digression. If they choose to join EDEN, that is their choice. I’ll respect their decision. We are all free to do what makes people enjoy the game more

Personally, I have no intentions of rage invading them.. However, if they decide to make another serious crack at Northern Ireland, I will not hesitate to not only crush them in the battle, but maybe go after the glorious Medium Iron they are hoarding.

Which leads me quite conveniently onto my next point:

EDEN does not always mean enemy. It implies it, certainly. But we will judge each nation on their on merits, and if they pose a threat to our allies of course. Any country that attacks or is occupying our allies, is an enemy. Just because we are on opposite sides, does not mean we can not have respectable relations with countries such as South Africa and Australia, who have rather been forced into choosing a side, even if not entirely official.

Towards the end of my second Foreign Affairs term in the UK, a notion for a new alliance was set up in Europe. It was to be a regional alliance with the UK, UNL, Germany and France as the original members. This alliance seemed to have been cast to the side upon the rise of Phoenix. However, as some of you will know, I’m quite fond of smaller alliances. Which is exactly why I will be looking at the possibilities of a re-commencing talks for a regional alliance in Europe, as a sub-alliance of Phoenix or not.

And on to military matters…

I’mma start by saying: we’re pretty good. Other nations in the world know we are one of the best-organized armies in the New World. That does not mean, however, we can afford to slack. We will keep making improvements, keep up with technology to make things go smoother and to release some of the burden of our tireless officers. We will ensure we are not only ready for V2, but we are on top of it and exploit it from the word “go”.

Paras

My beloved paras <3
Over my month as CO, I noticed a few things we could improve upon, and unfortunately my observations haven’t yet been implemented but I will ensure they are soon.

Unfortunately for the paras, and the country at large, we lost pretty much all of our heaviest hitters with the signing of peace. With some feeling we’d betrayed our allies, and some just wanting excitement in other nations. I respect these guys’ decisions and wish them the best of luck. They will be welcome to come home any time they want.

But not only have we lost some good soldiers and good guys, we’ve also lost a lot of damage potential. Unfortunately, there is only so much we can do about this, but there is something we can do about it. The first, obvious thing would be mini-tanking people to General or Field Marshall ranks. Not only does this increase our damage capabilities, it’s also pretty fun. In serious battles, we will tank if needed too, especially, as I have stated before, in defence of our allies in France and Germany.

Recently, we received a large influx of new para suppliers to keep up with demand due to occasionally hectic times near strikes, for example. This has partially solved the supplying issue, and I thank every supplier who has worked so hard over the last month and even the last few days. However, I also advocate having a GoogleDoc system, in which, if no suppliers are online, a para may “leave their order”, as such.

Likewise, the Paras need more recruitment. This can be done through in-game ads, a newspaper with article such as those written by Asher and IndieKid, in-game ads and team building relations between all branches of the Armed Forces.

At the moment, there is far too much dislike and distrust between the various branches of the military. This needs to be stopped so our forces can grow and be the best that we can be. I’ll be working with all of our military commanders to achieve this aim.

Marines/Navy

What can I say about these guys? They have an incredibly hard working staff who are immensely capable and efficient in their workings. The Navy is a well oiled machine which is the pride of the UK. It has a large, active user base with incredibly friendly people and future leaders a-plenty.

Some people have suggested that we apply in-game ranks to ranks in our actual military. I think it is safe to say; any officer in the military would hugely disagree with this statement, whether they are a Private or a Field Marshall in-game.

However, other ideas, such as having the military and politics more intertwined are much better ideas. The Navy should be the first port of call, so to speak (excuse the pun) for all active people in our nation. Here, they can learn the basics of playing the game, and then decide whether to focus more on politics or on the military, or if you are me, both.

Some of my ideas for the Paras will be going towards the Marines and Navy too. Such as mini-tanking (depending on rank and strength, how mini) to raise ranks and keep the whole military lark fun. I’ll also be speaking to Navy officials, and seeing their opinions on revamping their officers, adding more in and getting rid of any weak links, if there are any, of course. Likewise, recruitment is good with the Navy and Marines, but it could always be better, and this is what I fully intend to make happen.

As I have noted before, our soldiers need to get over their prejudices with the other branches. They all have great communities, just with different tastes in each one. And just because you leave a branch, doesn’t mean you have to give up on your friends left behind.

Also, on a general military note, the Military will receive all the funds it needs to continue to be a well functioning unit. As long as they don’t waste any of course.

And so ends the Military and Foreign Affairs manifesto. Thank you for reading, and I hope you haven’t been bored witless, frankly.

Thanks 🙂
