[AV] A Domestic and Economical Matter

Day 834, 15:12 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by AltmerVampire

Why hello there everyone,

"That would be an ecumenical matter!" I couldn't resist. :3

Firstly, thank you very much for all your applications to Cabinet, every one is appreciated. The Cabinet has now been announced on the UK forums so check it out there, and if we win on the 5th, then I’ll release an article with the names of my Ministers.

Also, have a podcast. From IndieKid, Andy Millward and myself about the elections.

So here we are, for my economics and domestic policies that I will hopefully begin to implement starting on the 6th.

Domestic.

Sexy pic, no?

To start with, I’ll state my two goals for most of my policies. Education and communication. Our new players are our future and we will ensure we have a good amount moving up the ranks to make us a truly active and intelligent country who treat its young players well and with respect. It is with these two goals in my mind, that I write these following policies.

Director of Communications and Strategy
The DCS is effectively a spokesman. And the name is just because it is pretty darn kickass. Anyway, the DCS’ jobs will entail being in constant contact with the rest of the Cabinet keeping up-to-date with all new happenings in each Ministry and reporting to the Prime Minister if the PM happens to be offline at the time of the development.

The DCS will also be gathering reports from the Ministries, compiling them along with the Cabinet Secretary, and show them to the Prime Minister. They will then edit the reports to get rid of any sensitive material and release the reports through the in-game media and the Downing Street forum.

In a similar fashion, they will maintain the Downing Street forum, answering any questions anyone may have. The DCS will be required to work very closely with the Cabinet Secretary as well much of the time.

Ministerial Reports
Similar to what I mentioned before in the DCS section of this article. I will be expecting my Ministers to make reports every fortnight with the help of the DCS to lift the burden so that they can primarily focus on their main job.

These reports will cover as much information as possible, however, understandably sensitive issues will be kept on the down low.

Prime Minister’s Questions
Something first introduced when Sara Droz took the presidency, was PMQs. The basic idea, was for members of the public to ask Sara anything at a meeting every Wednesday night. I intend to bring back PMQs, although hopefully without the reason they had to be cancelled – incessant trolling.

PMQs will be initially tried in the first week of my Presidency, most likely this Saturday evening (provided I win) for the House of Commons and the House of Lords for more delicate matters. If the event goes well, we’ll have public PMQs in the following days at some time.

The Cabinet Secretary or the DCS will be the moderator at these events, depending on whether the Cabinet Sec is online at the time or not.

Fortress London
Something a few people ask me a few times. Will we be moving our citizens back to our other regions? The answer is, of course, no. I will be asking the MoHA to make sure they keep Pming new citizens and older citizens to move to London, the only Q5 in the UK for the foreseeable future (until we see what V2 holds anyway).

A Commune
An idea I’ve toyed with for quite a while. Being so heavily invested in the military’s system and having watch the People’s Commune with quite a lot of interest when I was campaigning for Scipio to be CP, I’ve always wanted to see how a Government run Commune would go.

So I thought, “why not give it a go?”. So I’m gonna give it a go. With consultation from our Minister of Economics and Minister of Work, along with the People’s Commune, I intend to set up a Commune, that any person in the UK may join if they so wish. It’ll be run as non-profit, so we will not be competing with private enterprise.

FAQs
In an effort to ensure our new players are well clued into the game for the word go, and to ensure we keep people interested, I will be asking the MoHA to make a list of FAQs, with the input of the UK public, which will be released on the UK wiki and a link will be included in an updated version of the welcoming message.

War College
This policy would also fit in my Foreign Affairs and Military manifesto, but for the sake of emphasizing education and communication I’ll put it in here. I intend to open up a War College, which teaches the basics of the war module, how to succeed in the military and be a successful Military officer, along with teaching basics about foreign affairs – diplomacy, current events and historic foreign events to understand the present.

Personally, I quite love this idea. We’ll have it staffed by Military command and part of the MoFA team and anyone else who wants to contribute to adequately explain how things work and anyone interested can sign up to see the paragraphs of loveliness.

And that is us for Domestics… So lets move on to the Economy, shall we?

Economy.
Thanks to the war, we are not at the top of our game. Our gold reserves are massively depleted, but we are still going, and indeed stronger economically than many other countries in the New World. I will be working with the Economic team to ensure we have the best chance of a full-scale recovery and growth, against the tide that is Lana.

V2 Preparation.
V2 is coming soon. And we need to make sure we are fully ready for it. Which is why I will be setting aside a budget for the Department for Work so that they can immediately jump in and adapt the UK’s companies to suit the new module, as fast as they can work it out, really.

On a similar note, I’ll be expecting the entire Economics team to be analysing the situation from the very beginning so they can offer support to UK businesses who need to decide what we need on the market, and so any labour shortages in a particular system are quickly ironed out. And I have every faith our economics experts can work together at a time like that.

Taxes.
Taxes are an interesting one. They have been raised dramatically to assist with the war effort, and now that the war is over, some people will be seeking to reduce them back to their pre-war levels. Personally, I encourage us to stick with these high taxes for a little while longer, so that we can rebuild our coffers quickly, and will be asking for them to be lowered the second our Economics team says it is a good idea to do so.

Co-operation.
I have always been very fond of international co-operation when it comes to the economy, so I strongly support all Phoenix nations helping each other out with their economies and giving each other advice which suits their own tailored needs.

My main goal is to rebuild, not to do anything too radical this month, so that my successor can easily do more with the economy. My goal is to rebuild the UK back to pre-war levels.

So thank you, UK, for reading my final manifesto. A finale article may be released tomorrow night, depending on circumstances. But if not, thanks for giving me a chance so far, and I hope you consider AV.

AV,
Your candidate.
