Why I am in The Legion

Hello euk yes I know I am a hypocritical liar as how many times I said I am not a journalist and will never write an article But I feel I have a few things to say so here it goes.

Well the first question I get asked alot is “who are you” and this is normally followed by “what are you doing in my garden”

But who I am? Who? Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a man in a mask.

Sorry I couldn’t resist that but back to the original question so who is Spygon. Well I am a English born half Irish male who first joined erepublik in 2009, yes I am an oldfag. I spent a lot of my time in the original navy where I learned a lot about military organisations and how the mechanics of the game work. I have jumped out of planes above hello kitty, led the original marines up the beaches of Maine and defended the streets of London. Pretty much I have been to nearly every region and fought in a war zone there so as you can see I am a military man through and through but this article is not about me going on about my life in eRepublic.

It is about something very close to my heart, it is about The Legion. The reason I have made this paper, I have felt it has been a long time coming, I wanted to say thank you to all it is members. The rise from a small idea a few people had to the juggernaut of an MU it is today has been incredible. But this has not happened by luck as a lot of people seem to forget how much effort and time people put into making The Legion what it is today. As a non political based soldier since the downfall of the original navy I have pushed and shouted for a place for others like me. A place where everybody is there for the same reason, to fight for the eUK, as this generates friendship and community. A place where you don’t see feeds of vote for blah blah or have random politicians fighting for a place in command so they can then can sway more votes. When you look at The Legion you see one group the legionaries all fighting for the military interests of the eUK and having fun while doing it as this is our aim. So thank you everybody in The Legion for the fun and community we have built together. However I do feel I should give a special mention to a few people that have put so much time and effort into The Legion.



First time I met Carlini I thought he was just another player throwing around money; I had seen it so many times before. But he isn't he is one of the most hard working ,understanding ,nicest guys I have ever met. If it wasn’t for him The Legion wouldn’t be what it is today. He runs supplies and organises the tanks getting to people’s doorstep as well as tracking every member of The Legion to keep an eye on everything. He donates his Q7 companies so we can keep supporting our hundreds of members, he has helped make The Legion the self sufficient independent MU it is. Also he is always more than happy to lend a hand to anybody either on irc or by PM even when he is doing 20 other things at the same time. Carlini has made several large sacrifices to help push The Legion forward and has been the greatest commander I have had the honour of serving under.

Elle Roslin is another dedicated member who I feel deserves thanks. Elle is always around ready to help out where she is needed, you might of seen some her great articles, helping out new members of The Legion or dishing out rewards but I am sure you agree you know who Elle Roslin is. Elle has helped build The Legion community as long as I can remember while also having a large amount of experience on what works and what doesn’t work and we are lucky to have her.

Rodney McKay one of my ex navy friends that I feel doesn’t get the appreciation he deserves because no one sees his work but everybody benefits from it. He helps out a lot behind the scenes while using his ex navy skills to push The Legion forward and he understands the military side of the game extremely well. Rodney just gets down to business and works on improving The Legion all the time. If you look you will spot Rodney always in the background helping out or going over reports he doesn't complain about anything its just his role and he is very good at it.

Well this article got rather long rather quickly and the more I think about The Legion the more great people of the eUK spring to mind Emergy Maxfell, NWG , John Baker, Betafoxtrot, Apronchef, Dmgd, 11ue, CrispyDragon, Zonmei, Blue and Evil, Ullok and oh so many more! I could spend all day thanking people but I wanted to say that I appreciate all the hard work and time you put into making The Legion the awesome, fun MU it is today.

So thank you every member of The Legion and keep kicking ass o7
