Whorehouse makes a move for Speaker of Congress?

Another lovely day today in eCanada as I login today to put in some more work towards making some moves/progress in congress. Unfortunately, we can't really pass any big laws until we have a new speaker and we are a bit behind in choosing one due to the recent inactivity in eCanada.
I go to vote on behalf of a speaker candidate and I realize something.
After a few people have already cast their votes, I need to know more about these candidates especially since their forum names don't exactly match their eRepublik names. So I ask for a list of citizen links and I do some research into each of the candidates to see who is the best suited to be speaker.
After seeing that DMV3 had the most experience, know how and was previously speaker. I decide it's best to choose someone who has been speaker before.
But after watching, more votes cast I start to realize a trend.
Whorehouse votes are solely organized to vote for the speaker candidate that is part of their party: Joseph Rich
Could this be part of their plan to turn eCanada into a dictatorship? Slowly taking over important positions to exert influence?
Surely, we can't be that corrupt in eCanada and we are simply choosing who's best for the job right?
I do a quick count of Joseph's votes and it shows that over 80% of his votes are from the Whore party with a few votes from other parties as the remaining 20% thought it was supposed to be a fair vote as well.
Doing a quick count of Whorehouse member votes reveals that 0% of Whore members have cast votes for other candidates other than the candidate from their party while other parties have cast freely. Canadian Progressive Front for example has votes for all three candidates.
Because of the Whores going for only voting a Whore member as speaker, other parties soon decide to vote their own candidate as speaker as well.
Thus, the quality of democracy is degraded as we are now in a pissing match created by the Whorehouse as parties now vote by party membership rather than capability and activity.
It is indeed a sad day in eCanada for democracy.

I'd just like to point out that none of us have been told in which direction to vote, but most of us have a bad taste of DMV, and those of us that don't think that Joseph Rich would do a better job. If memory serves correctly, I believe Joseph Rich has also taken up the position of Speaker before, and if not speaker, I'm fairly certain Deputy Speaker.

As the most active party we pride ourselves in doing the research necessary to choose the best candidate. Most RW members have a distaste for DMV, and I have rarely seen MaxMaher until very recently. Joseph Rich is just the best option in my opinion.

The fact that you had to research the candidates before you could cast your vote is exactly why you shouldn't be writing this style of article.
The reason that DMV isn't getting votes from Whorehouse Congressmen isn't because we're only voting for our own, it's because DMV is in no way acceptable to the job.
There are many members of the CPF and other parties that I would 100% support to be Speaker because I know them to be logical and fair. Those are two virtues which DMV does not possess.
Once again I'd just like to take the time to thank you for coming out of retirement and immediately telling us that we're all playing the game wrong. It is very enlightening.

I am pretty sure this is how partisan voting works.
Real democracy (that is, the ideal towards which you people claim to strive) only works when every single voter is totally educated on every issue. Since that is not possible, because some people are too goddamn dumb to understand much of anything useful and many other people simply don't give a shit, we have this slapdash knockoff version which favors group-think. People vote along party lines, and the party that votes together comes out the most effective in the end. The ones who exercise no control over their voting bloc end up getting shafted because they adhere to a false ideal rather than to reality.
Screw democracy. If you want something done, fix the odds.

What you point out is not a good argument! As a party, it is current to vote for your candidate. Because is a friend, because you want to be solidaire to the team or just because he have the abilities and would be an excellent speaker. So ... you don't convince me on that point. Sorry.

If we all voted on quality and not party then the french would have very few congressmen so i wouldnt go throwing any stones after the month the PFC just had.
Yes, all Rylde Whorehouse Congressmen voted for Joseph Rich.
All Imperial Party votes went to DMV3, as did all Beaver Action League votes.
All Parti Francophone Canadien votes had originally gone to PFC candidate Le_Petit_Fantome(MaxMaher). Two eventually switched to DMV3 - presumably only after seeing that their preferred choice wouldn't win and thinking DMV3 the better of the two leading candidates.
Of Canadian Progressive Front Congressmen, only two didn't vote for DMV3.
All this would indicate that party allegiance is very strong among Congressmen. Not surprising - we're talking about people of the same political party so they should have similar views on most issues.
It also shows that no one candidate has the support of a majority of Congress. This might indicate that what you view as important may not be virtues in the eyes of others.
While you may be right about partisanship, everything else is pure speculation. You may want to consider relying on facts before making further allegations of impropriety.

If you look at the order of voting you'll see the early votes from CPF were mixed until it dawned on everyone that the votes for Joseph were organized rather than based off of merit alone.
Assuming what you say is true, that the CPF began voting for DMV3 only because of all the votes going to Joseph Rich than that actually suggests that it's the CPF that a) organised its voters to vote as a bloc and b) that, because of this, they were no longer voting for whom they felt was the best candidate but merely who they were told to vote for.
While it could have been assumed that RW was organizing its Congressmen to vote for Joseph, they have already denied this and I see no evidence or reason to doubt this.
So, if you believe that bloc voting by party and not allowing party members to vote for whomsoever they believe is the best possible Speaker is a detriment - and so far you appear to be alone here - then it would appear that it was actually the CPF (and possibly the IP and BAL) who acted inappropriately in this situation.
In other words to counteract a perceived, and not proven, anti-democratic move the CPF (and others) may themselves have acted in the exact manner being decried.
Once again, there's not necessarily anything wrong with that. But if you're going to try to claim the moral high ground it's often best to be practising what you're preaching rather than what you're railing against (even if that means that, sometimes, you don't get your way).
Oh don't be naive Chochi. No one attains 100% votership from a single party without organization. Especially Joseph Rich.

I've been in some party group PMs and I honestly can't remember ever seeing any direction on how to vote for Speaker. It doesn't usually come up. But parties voting for the same candidate happens pretty much every month.
You don't need direction to vote for your friend or fellow party member. Sometimes it just so happens that you don't even need those to be the common denominator.
Hell, even I had several good runs (possibly even after my party died, I don't know, my memory's pretty shit) and I don't think anyone had to be coerced to vote for me. Certainly I never (or at least hardly ever) asked for it.
I don't know why anyone listens to this pacifist...Have you seen how long he has played the game and hasn't bothered to work, fight, or join a decent MU or Party. Where does this Dean fella get his knowledge of the game...from spending his time reading about everyone else's conquests...Come one Dean, if your going to play the game and talk smack, at least do something other than talk. If you need to get educated on how to click the mouse in a battle or need to learn how to train your strength, i am sure there are a bunch of folks outside your MU and Party that would love to help you learn how to play.

The power in congress has always been the caucus...when MUs and Parties caucus anything is possible. So the short sighted leadership of the PFC and CPF need to shut down their parties or their parties need to throw out their Party Presidents, cause their leadership isn't capable of working together with their members. From this discussion it appears that they are not effective in leading the people they put on there list of congressmen/women for any election so why should they keep their Party President job...
So these are the guys to impeach! Exalted Druid, Utat, DarkMos, and Majail...All you losers need to stop whinning as long as these yo-yos are leading your pitiful party your going to continue to be losers. If you don't know how to impeach your party president LEAVE the party and join a leader who can lead. Those 4 guys named have lost their ability to lead! Vote with your mouse! Many have already done that and have joined the Whorehouse and Cordis Die...who will be next to mouse click over the resign button and click Join the best organized party eCanada has ever known...
Do your part and make eCanada better by leaving the CPF and the PFC their leadership is a bunch of unorganized pacifists, they hate fighting in wars, they hate spending any money to equip the people that serve them, they are tight fisted cheap-o's! Let's dump the waste in eCanada lets get rid of unorganized leaders who can't get their own members to work with them!
