Home Affairs

It is quite busy in the Home affairs office. People come and go and my wife keeps calling when i come home. Unfortunately i have to disappoint her each and every time since the ongoing Referendum is not going so well as it was planned by the goverment. An explaination:

Referendum for changing the name

As told in the Coalition program a referendum will be held for changing this name. Unfortunately this causes a lot of unrest at the current population. They think it will not matter what name our state has because it will not be changed ingame. As minister i have to agree on this point. The name will not really change. The only thing that changes is an internal name. But an internal name can be important. The belgium people think this name is Too much a dutch word. We have to acknowledge this and see if anything is possible to let them feel more at home.

Unfortunately at this moment i feel that more and more people do not want a name that does not matter has to be changed. I as minister of Home affairs asks you to be open minded and still think of names to solve this problem for once and for all.

See it as followed. When we do change the name to a neutral one in which neither Dutch or Belgium references are. When this is done we will not have to worry about it again since it's a neutral name. So once again i ask you to be open minded think of neutral names and solve this problem that seems to be a high profile problem.

Referendum for the new constitution

Also spoken in the coalition program is about the new constitution which is being build at this moment. A workgroup is working on it for almost 3 months now and it is nearing it's completion. You can expect 1 or several articles about this new constitution explaining what is changed and why it is needed. The planning is that we will start publishing these articles at the end of this week, or at the beginning of next week. After which a referendum of yes/no will start on accepting this new constitution.

When more news is known about this i will publish a newsarticle!

The current minister Rikoom seems inactive, therefore he has been removed as minister. Sliverer will replace him till an other minister is appointed

Statecompanies and the Goldmarket

1 – The lost company

This week was a pretty hard one, one the Ministry of State Companies and Gold Markets doesn’t want to live again. During a reorganization of our companies a mistake occurred, we still don’t know if it was a eRepublik bug, or a human mistake, but one of our companies was sold to South Korean Theocratic’s. The same that started a RW in Japan in order to conquer it back.

The mistake made us sell this company with nearly 200 gold worth of stock and raws for only 50 gold to those people. Our government found out quickly that something went wrong and started negotiations in order to get the company back. Leaving it like it was wasn’t an option. UNL Foods Q1 had a huge stock that could have destroyed our whole Q1 food economy if we didn’t act quickly. ThomasRed started negotiations quickly with the support of the government.

During several hours negotiations were led in order to ensure the stability of our government. We managed to convince them to sell us the company back. In this operation we lost 130 gold, a huge amount of money.

This is a mistake that must not happen again. It may have been a human mistake, as it could have been a bug (eRepublik is full of those bugs). We will do everything in our power to prevent it from happening again. We are now going over our options in order to negotiate with admins the possibility of getting the money back.

2 – The new managers

Also good news came this week, our state companies are growing quickly and the workload with it. There was an urgent need of more state company managers. Our call for help was well red and we had not less than 11 applications. After discussion with all the managers, we are happy to welcome 9 new managers in the family.
In order to prevent problems, they will all sign a contract which will allow us to take immediate action with help of admins if problems would occur.

3 – The reorganization

The process that provoked the loss of the company was part of a larger scale project. In this project, the new Minister, wanted to relieve and reorganize the whole system. With the nomination of 9 new managers, we are now able to name 2 managers per state company. This allows us to prevent mistakes as two persons will have to check everything every day.
Also the post of General manager was created. Those managers will supervise the whole group and offer help and assistance if there is need of. The two now GM’s are Cocoamok and Deviltje, two of the most experienced managers our country has.
Also a new wage system will be introduced, rewarding people with higher wellness. In order to give everybody a spare chance, a coaching program will be set up. This still has to be discussed with the actual head of the Coaching program Crell.

4 – The gold market

The gold market was stable as we want it to be. The speculation project didn’t start yet, as we are looking for a good candidate in order to ensure its success. We will work in it this week.
