Two Sides Of A Many Sided Coin - Part 1
Ashwamaedh
Yep, today I'm feeling a bit prolific! 😃
so here goes number 2 today!
The "coin" in my title is a metaphor for eRepublik gameplay and I would like to draw your attention to reading about a couple of interesting articles that have appeared in the international media that highlight two facets of the gameplay experience. You can choose to play this (on the surface) boring game by yourself, lose interest and walk away... or you could choose to find interest in the community and work WITH it or against it... or even to manipulate it.
In a series on interesting people who have defined different methods of gameplay... there is nothing better than to bring forth a very positive approach that symbolises all the intrigue, diplomacy and fun one can have ingame, while the other highlights the dark side of obsession.
1. Changing the path of a small nation through diplomacy.
This is a brilliant article and while it may seem a wall of text, I am sure you will find it an interesting read
Here is an excerpt that I found particularly relevant to eIndia ->
"When you think of a small country’s function in eRep, it is often overlooked. Most think they don't have a function, an eventual PTO colony, or a spot on the map of resources for a neighbouring beast. But occasionally a small country does have a function in the New World. But at the same time, foreign affairs of small countries are often overlooked as being insignificant not worth the time of bigger countries. I believe Belgium found this function a stable and relatable ally."

2. Dark Obsession
The eUSA has always a unique and unusual nation ingame with a mix of players from diverse backgrounds, such as real life politics to being experienced MMO role players to being the usual college/school going kids. Its also had an interesting mix of non-native Americans being part of its diaspora and building it up to a powerhouse. Sad that is is also in decline from its heydays but here is one of the reasons why...the same reason that built it up, also helps bring it down.
Taking ingame politics too seriously and then people having knee jerk reactions (called lovingly ingame as "rage Quits")
Excerpt from the article by Jude Connors
"So yeah... we have all seen that I ran against Pfeiffer for USWP PP today, I am sure. He decided to make it personal and make a RL friend of mine who "was" in USWP choose between our real life friendship or continuing to be a party leader.
This kind of poisonous shit I just don't have time for. It's better for me to just leave this game behind than to have him harass my RL friends.
In short, the USA Community is poisonous and the game itself sucks, so why stay?"
This has led to knock ons with Artela and Josh also posting goodbye articles (they are in the International media, go search them out) And do read the comments in the article... they are most informative!

Calvin, it's actually quite serious. People in America aren't like people in India. Americans are.....crazy. some are prepared to travel far to settle grudges
