This week in the eUK
Send love to Plato
Another hectic week in the eUK. Alliances with Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary and Spain were all rubber stamped as Congress voted in favour of continuing our mutual protection pact with these powerful allies.
Congress officially rejected our CP's plans for tax reductions by 11 votes for with 23 votes against. Whatever peoples perceptions of Congress this debate showed that Congress does have a backbone and is willing to stand up to the ruling President if they believe the cause is wrong. The fact that so many of the people who voted for Big Ant in the Presidential elections actually voted against him in this debate shows that the future of the eUK is in great hands, especially as they are willing to vote with their own opinions and not blindly follow one side of the political divide. For the record I was for the proposed tax cuts.
The Government released their plans for the eUK and future military action. The plans released were that the eUK had agreed for Canada to natural enemy us and then launch an attack. In turn we would repel this and then counter attack Newfoundland. Once we had a footing in Canada we would then hopefully launch an attack on Portugal. This attack was agreed with our allies at TWO and would apparently help Spain.
Canadian public opinion was very much against allowing us access to attack a dear ally of theirs so the battles between ourselves and Canada have been very hard fought. In Canada's first organised attack on the eUK, Brits alone laid down 2 Billion damage. Congratulations to all our fighters and allies for helping us defend the eUK.
Kamoris again launched a natural enemy proposal, this time against Canada. Congress rejected it 6-24 as the eUK needed to keep our NE in reserve for our holiday in Portugal...keep an eye on your shoutboxes and latest articles for when we launch this attack. In the meantime please keep an eye out for any resistance wars that may be launched in Newfoundland. We need to hold that region until our attack is launched against Portugal.
This week also saw all the political parties head to the ballot box to elect their new party presidents. Since the admins updated the game then party presidents now have a lot more power and now choose the importance of the candidates for Congress elections by the numbered position they hold. At New Era our members elected Hannibal again with 53% of the vote and in a close race at UKPP Sir Nick Griffin won by two votes ahead of Garth Lidlington. ESO members voted convincingly for former eUK CP JamesW whilst at TUP they continued their promotion of first time party presidents by electing The Equalist. UKRP reeling from dropping outside of the hallowed top five and now needing cross party support to run for congress, chose Darkmantle as president. WWhether he can steady the ship and overhaul 5th place ESO remains to be seen.
New kids on the block and now 4th placed One Vision witnessed a mamoth tussle between Joshua Whelan and LongShotZ. Both tied with 19 votes which saw Joshua take the spot as party president.
New Era now has 194 members and is still growing. To be a part of the New Era then click here and play a part in the revolution of the eUK. New Era has a proven track record of promoting new players to Congress, but if politics isn't your thing then we fully support players who just want to train, work and fight. "The fact that so many of the people who voted for Big Ant in the Presidential elections actually voted against him in this debate shows that the future of the eUK is in great hands, especially as they are willing to vote with their own opinions and not blindly follow one side of the political divide." Nice spin there, if they hadn't been blindly following the political divide during CP elections he'd never have been elected.
But otherwise great informative article, hope to see more 🙂
I see your point Elvis, what I meant was it was refreshing to see a Congress stand up to a CP and not follow party lines...its a good sign for democracy. I was for tax cuts and backed Big Ant but it leaves a comfortable feeling knowing despite all the predictions of doom and gloom, PTO's etc etc that the new make up of Congress members puts the country first and we are in safe hands.
I thought congress were blocking you and being butthurt crybabies on the vote for an tax increase or was that last week. The messages from new era are starting to get confusing but other than that a good article.
What are you talking about Spygon? New Era is mostly against tax cuts and many voted against.
Don't listen to the propaganda. Best bit I heard was that I tried to influence congress to vote for tax cuts when I am personally mildly against them lol
Spygon, you'll see I said I was for tax cuts and I wasn't speaking for the party. I don't think anybody who wanted the tax cuts were being buthurt, all i have seen is some good arguments on both sides and certainly no trolling. Obviously I don't have access to whats being said in Congress parts of the forums but In articles and shouts it has been civil.
A good sign I think \O/

I thought if you supported an CP you had to support all his policies as that was the discussion i was in last week.As i said It is not possible to do that fully but got told that you cant pick which policies you like.
of course, you can pick every policy you like. Overall, BigAnt is doing a good job, we're getting fun!
Well in my own personal opinion Big Ant was elected on a main policy of tax cuts, CD's main policy was the training war. Both would have needed Congress approval (If we wanted a NE bonus obviously) but I do believe all the talk of referendums was balderdash considering we'd had an election 4 days previous. Would there have been a referendum on the TW if CD had of won? For me, if a CP is elected on a platform then it should be seen through...but Congress woke up finally which could be good for our country.
UK cant win against Portugal, anyway you will be not able to hold this region...
