English Superlatives

They designate the extreme form of an adjective as in the examples:

ex:'The stupidest of them all is Plato', said the retard.

As you can see, by adding the definite article "the" and the "-est" suffix to the adjective "stupid", we get the extreme form "the stupidest"

It is the same way we do with the adjective "late" - the latest, which means "the most recent", as illustrated in the following example:
ex: The latest update in this game is s*it.

Another superlative of the adjective "late" is "the last". It means "the one after all others" as opposed to "the latest" which means "the most recent".

ex: The last grammar book I read was "The Enquirer".
