The SEAL Trident

The SEAL Trident

The Trident is the only warfare specialty pin that is the same for officers and enlisted. It symbolizes that Navy SEAL's are brothers in arms - that they train together and fight together.

There are four parts to the Trident. Each one symbolizes an important facet of the warfare community.

1) The anchor symbolizes the Navy, the parent service, the premier force for power projection on the planet and the guarantor of world peace. However, it is an old anchor, which reminds the SEAL's that their roots lie in the valiant accomplishments of the Naval Combat Demolition Unit and Underwater Demolition Teams.

2) The trident, the scepter of Neptune, or Poseidon, king of the oceans, symbolizes a SEAL's connection to the sea. The ocean is the hardest element for any warrior to operate in - it is the one in which SEALs find themselves the most comfortable.

3)The pistol represents the SEAL's capabilities on land - whether direct action or special reconnaissance. If you look closely, it is cocked and ready to fire and should serve as a constant reminder that SEALs must be ready at all times.

4) The eagle, the nations emblem of freedom, symbolizes the SEAL's ability to swiftly insert from the air. It reminds them that they fly higher in standards than any other force. Normally, the eagle is placed on military decorations with its head held high. On the SEAL insignia, the eagle's head is lowered to remind each of us that humility is the true measure of a warrior's strength.

General Commentary starts here

I don't really know much about the SEALs and I live near the home of SEAL Team 6. When I was younger in fire fighter recruit school and later when I first became a rescue specialist I trained on some of the same towers they did. Let me be clear, I never trained directly with them. They just allowed us use of their training grounds. I had an opportunity to met a few, share a few stories, but more importantly share some down time.

There is nothing like banter to make quick friends. I served in the Chair Force back in the day and if you know anything about the Air Force then you know how they have to ruff it compared to how the SEALs have it!

In all seriousness, both sides walked away respecting what the other did. I was dump founded, even humbled by their approachability and since of purpose. I have nothing but respect for what they do.

Let me tie this to Erep.

There is not much in RL that can brought into Erep. However, a since of community sums up SEAL Team 6. It has been my pleasure to be involved with such a gaming community. We are brothers in arms and wear our Trident with honor.

A note to our friends, the first round is always on me and to our enemies... Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional!
