The Pat Epic: Part 1

Day 2,055, 11:53 Published in Canada Canada by Zianni Vaatez
Location: CRP Park

A gentle breeze races through the trees, sending the thick green leaves that graced the tall oak trees to their doom below. If they were lucky, they would fall into the pond that sat in the middle of the park. The clear sparkling waters gushed out unfazed by the weather that surrounded it, oblivious to the event that was about to take place.

White folding chairs with crudely painted numbers sat around the pond, evenly spaced from one another as if prepared for an event. In the distance, two young men could be seen walking to the pond.

PAT HARPER(S) ENTER THE STAGE FROM THE LEFT.

Pat Harper: It’s a pleasure to talk to you again, Pat Harper (2)! Why were you invited to the event though?

Pat Harper (2): Likewise, Pat! It’s always a wonderful experience talking to you. Let’s try to avoid the results of last year’s party though. I’m not sure how it’s possible to have every girl’s ovaries explode at the exact same time, but by ParPer have you done it!

As for why I’m here, I was contacted to offer Medical Treatment if needed for the duration of the event.

Pat Harper: I’m quite sorry about that, Pat. It must have been quite hard on you and your employees. Thanks for coming though; I’ll need all the support I can get.

Pat Harper (2): Not exactly, I’ve bet my entire life savings on you… So if you lose, I look forward to selling your organs.

Pat Harper: Good to know I still have good friends.

The two gentlemen slowed down as they reached the ring of chairs and smiled nostalgically to themselves. It was one of the most dangerous games they’d ever learned in Preschool… Musical chairs.

They laughed and turned their attention to the pond. Both of the well-traveled men taking a moment to lose themselves in the beautiful waters of the pond named, “Canada.”

Pat Harper: “Oh Canada, how I’ve missed you.”

Pat Harper (2): You were here yesterday, what are you talking about?

Pat Harper: Shut up, this is for the reader’s amusement. I’m trying to supply some back-story for the event.

Pat Harper (2): Why not just tell them it’s a game of High-Stakes Musical Chairs attended by yours truly, Pat Harper.

Pat Harper: It’s not that simple, Pat. I can’t simply tell all of them that. Oh… Wait, we just did.

Both of the gentlemen look mysteriously at each other.

ZIANNI VAATEZ ENTERS THE STAGE FROM POND.

Zianni Vaatez: Well, this is awkward. Tune in next week for the next installment of Pat's Epic game of Musical Chairs.
