The Journal – 2012 eRepublik Growth Statistics
The is the forth and final part of my series looking at population growth statistics from around the World. Those of you who have followed the series so far will have already witnessed Asia’s 30% decline, the 45% growth expierenced in the Americas and a Europe 1/5 smaller than what it was in January 2012. Since I first started publishing this series I have gained over 100 subscribers, I would like to thank all of my readers for their votes, shouts and article referrals you have made this series worth doing!
In this article I will be looking at the total active population growth of eRepublik during 2012. Data collection was carried out by recording the number of votes in each nation’s Presidential elections throughout the year. If you would like a copy of the spreadsheet I used feel free to PM me.

Active players from the countries I recorded throughout this series

Active players from every country in eRepublik

Europe vs America vs Asia (& the Oceania)

As you can see eRepublik’s player base has shrunk by 12%. Unfortuntley this 12% hasn’t been spread out evenly throughout the eWorld with Europe (which makes up roughly 70% of eRepublik’s population) taking the biggest hit. As you will see below 2012 has had an impact on the top 12 countries (based on active citizens).

Top 12 nations January 2012. Total active citizens: 31,405

Top 12 nations December 2012. Total active citizens: 26,916

Top 12 nations December 2013, were the annual growth rate to remain constant throughout 2013.

• Serbia’s 1,627 loss brings her closer to ally Polands active citizen count yet she retains 1st spot
• The USA moves into 3rd though we can credit this to the large scale PTO they’re facing
• Republic of Macedonia dropped 7 places to 12th
• Chile’s growth rate of 233% saw her rise to 11th place in the rankings
• Croatia dropped from 10th to 14th after annual losses of 38%
• 14% loss of active players between the top 12 countries in the World

12% is a big number for a player base to shrink by but I certainly wouldn’t assume that the company behind eRepublik has shrunk by 12%. Judging by the new features introduced throughout 2012 we can rest assure that the money eRepublik Labs took in throughout 2012 has as greatly increased when compared with the previous five years they’ve been operating.
eRepublik started off as a Free-2-Play game back in 2008 and after attracting a handsome following introduced eRepublik Rising – a Play-2-Win version of the game which proved to be a failure. Through tweaks the game was able to recover balancing the paid & free gaming experiences better than Rising did though still far from perfect.
Although I am a customer contributing to eRepublik Lab’s revenue I take my enjoyment in playing within a large, diverse gaming world. Any major chances to the scale of this world will hinder my participation in the game.
2013, for me, will be a make or break situation with my own involvement in eRepublik (in terms of purchasing gold and possibly remaining a player). I hope it can improve on this 12% decline and make the game enjoyable for those who wish to play for free and those who have a desire to invest in the game.

Thank you all for reading, I’ve enjoyed writing this series.
