The Death of eRepublik - Does it have to be?

Day 2,659, 20:59 Published in USA Turkey by Intolerant

What causes the impending death of our beloved eRepublik?

Day after day, we see those who toiled so hard to build the strong foundation of government, MU, and party; turn back and cast the game away.

But why? What is the cause of disgruntlement?

Is it the clumsy new features that Plato implements into the game that everyone says is the coming of the inevitable?

Is it the poor economy module that we all love to blame our life problems on?

What about this fancypants new dictatorship system that everyone curses and spits at?

Cheap cop outs in my opinion.

See, we ourselves are speeding the end of the game.

I've been around for a while, skulking in the shadows - long enough to witness many changes and clumsy features intended to make the game better, which did the opposite.

And funny enough, each time Plato slips up; someone is there to say "Oh, this game is going to sh**, Plato is doing it on purpose!!"

Well, Plato's done a pretty crappy job of wrecking the game as far as I'm concerned. Seeing as how, according to you guys, he's been trying since 2008...

There's really no difference in these ignorant cries and what you see in the real world. There's always some idiot who assumes the worst and intends to shove their doomsday opinions down everyone's throat. Layoffs are coming at the slightest stock fluctuation, terrorists are launching full blown offensive on the U.S. through Mexico (fu**in' kidding me?,) the world is ending in 2011 2012 2014 (sometime)!

Everyone laughs and pokes fun at these people in the real world, but in eRep; we have started to follow these doomsayers. So much so, that it's become a stigma. It's become the "thing to do" to proclaim the game dead. Which detracts from the game's social atmosphere.

The main draw of the game isn't the damned economy, or war features. We might like to point finger and blame it, but that's never been the case. It's the brotherhood. It's the party. It's our fellow MU comrades that make the game worth playing.

Sure, Plato continues to waylay us with poor implementations; but that doesn't mean that he's not trying. Give feedback on the official forums. If you don't like a new update, get off your arse and make some noise.

But most of all stop saying that eRep is dying.

In doing so, you only speed the spread of the stigma.

What do we expect our new players to think whenever they join up, all bright eyed and bushy tailed; then see you louts spouting off the end of days?

I dunno about you, but I enjoy the day to day distraction that eRep brings. If you would see the game continue to be, then do your part in making it better; instead of being the stone that weighs it down.

It's much easier to shout curses at something, rather than become the solution...

Who of you will choose to become the solution, over the path of the antagonist?
