The American Presidency - What matters to you?
Pfeiffer.
This month the election for President has been especially amusing. Haliman has finally done what everyone with a brain has been waiting for since he reformed the AMP, declared for President. Glove decided to pop up out of nowhere and run on a platform of 'look at the pretty article', and then there is the third option.
Before I get to this person, I'm going to pose a question to you:
What do you want from the President?
Do you want to be amused, do you want someone who is competent and won't make any of the obvious mistakes we've seen in months past, or are you one of those few, those happy few, who want to watch it burn?
I'll admit, at times I've fallen into that third camp. It's easily the most attractive as it takes the burden of having to try off of your shoulders, and you can simply laugh about how amusing everything is. If you fall into this camp, vote for Glove. His uninterested attitude and penchant for lolwhynot will most assuredly cause some interesting results, probably another wipe of the US.
If you fall in to the first group (yea, I'm skipping around, bite me) and simply want someone to distract you with shiny things while other people do the real work...well, Emerick isn't running, so vote for Glove.
If you're in that middle camp, as I am, and you want someone who is not only able to do the job of President, is willing to put up with the headaches of foreign leaders who are uncooperative (and those at home who can't help but be obstructionist), and do it with a smile (this is where I stop being this group's candidate, methinks)...then you only have one choice.
You must vote for Oblige.
His work in Defense, Foreign Affairs, in positions of leadership in our Alliance, Terra, his willingness to work with anyone, and the fact that he actually understands what little strategy is left in the game, makes Oblige the only logical choice for those people looking for a competent President who will do everything they can to prevent another wipe.
Something I think a few of you have noticed, and I can not stress enough, is that Haliman doesn't appear to fall in to any of these groups. Why is that? Haliman was the single worst President in US history. When it's time for me to retire from politics (yes, that day will come), I'll publish my personal best/worst list and give ample reasons why he was such a failure. Essentially, he managed to do two things which I didn't think anyone could do. He was both never online, and somehow managed to still make horrible decisions. How someone could be AFK and convey his desire to do everything wrong to the active cabinet members he managed to have, I'll never fully understand.
I've tried to be as un-biased as possible in this article, which isn't easy as I was the one to approach Oblige to run this month. I hope you'll take some of what I've said under consideration, but if you don't, you don't. Hell, if Haliman wins I'll just have to migrate back to that third group...at which point you're all f***ed anyway.
Praise Dio, every day.

Best line I've heard in a long time.

I'd vote oblige if I wasn't running. dont say I'm not gonna get on the ballot
Oblige is the clear winner here.
I gave Oblige his first Cabinet job, but I don't offer that to solicit your approval. I'd like to point out his first Cabinet job ever was SoS. Most people don't jump right in to one of the most important roles, but Oblige did. He hit the ground running, and helped me navigate some dicey situations.
Finally, Oblige takes eRep seriously. Maybe even too seriously, but I think the past year has shown you what happens when we have a lulzy POTUS versus a serious one. If you want to recover your states, maybe reorganize to the point we can go on the offensive, you have to pick Oblige.
Oblige for success. Make the call.
Also, how often does Henry actually sit down and try to be persuasive and charming? Think about it.
You forgot Pizza.
This is dumb. Why can't and why shouldn't a President manage his administration the way he or she wants instead of becoming a slave to the IRC fanatics ? Work smarter, not harder, people. I get so tired of the egomaniacal losers who ruin this game because they won't get out of the way and let others contribute to the game. Just go away, Pfeiffer. We won't miss you.

Yes, that's why I'm voting Glove.
Glove made many of the mistakes of which I speak, Israel. His first term was bolstered by success alliance wide, and the media was good...but his personal activity level and investment only foreshadowed his second term where he was completely uninvolved and checked out well before the term was up. While not as bad as Haliman, because really how could he be?, Glove under-performed in nearly every regard, PR being his only real saving grace.
What SS said.

GLOVE IS LOVE!
I can attest to Glove's lack of involvement in his second term. I was rather disappoint. Oblige, on the other hand, I helped bring into the metagame, but I can't take any credit for his success. He pretty much hit the ground running and I believe he'll continue to be a success in whatever endeavors he decides to lend his boundless energy to.
Which brings me to my next point. Energy. It's something this country desperately needs. AA had it. Oblige has it. Cerb surprised the hell out of me by having it. Glove in his second term? Not so much. I think he took too many lessons from Emerick in regards to the presidency. While I love Glove as a player, I don't think another term is in the cards for him...and to be honest, I think he SHOULD have to earn another shot.
(Yes, I am cringing while I agree with young Henry about Glove.) X_x
Voted for Mila
Glove is love and we love him for it.
Mila for POTUS.
my newspaper election topic is way different it involves interviewing all people in the election so we know the best person to pick.
