Still valid after over 2 years...

Day 1,457, 06:45 Published in USA Poland by WillyPedro

This is a re-print of my last article, originally written on day 682! Amazing how it is still almost the same...:

We eLive in a very dynamic eWorld... While I still consider myself fairly new to the eRepublik game I must say that part of the fun has been to have to figure out how things work in the eWorld, how to make yourself a spot in the eSociety.

At first I must say that I thought the game was kind of boring, lots of talk about wars and fighting. That's ok but it was not what I expected of the game... One of my first shouts was something like "What if I don't want to fight...?" then someting like "This game is only about fighting...!"

Then I learned about the 2 XP per fight you get, the healing in a Q5 hospital and it hit me: THIS IS A WAR GAME!!! But instead of the caveman realizing that he's in a Geico sponsored event (sorry to the non-USA ppl...) I said "I get it" but I didn't quit. I realized the few possibilities of a career in eRepublik:

1. Politician: don't mean to hurt anybodies feelings but I hate the concept. These days it's invariable, eRep or RL. You have to lie to get elected, you have to be kind of corrupt to pay back to your supporters, you then realize it's a lot harder than what it seemed, then that you can't do anything because your hands are tied, then... you already chose your career, too afraid to change, too close to the end of your term: start lying again to get re-elected...

2. Journalist: nice, I like to write but RL does nt leave me enouh time (in trouble now with RL work and stealing time to do this right now (but I'm my boss so I'm going to look the other way this time... ).

3. eReligious leader: I know, it has another name but it is pretty much that. I admire anybody that (without cheating!) has managed to get other people to get in the ame and stay... I spammed a bunch of people and only got 2 to enter the eGame (out of like 100) and they BOTH left...

4. Businessman! I like that, but there are a couple of problems. First you have to work and save a whole eLife to get the gold to start a company. And these eDays if your eCountry is involved in a war and you care even a bit you'll spend it all on helping the eCause...
Then the eWorld is nuts! With all the wars going on you never know in which eCountry your eCompany is going to end up. So you are down to having to open your eCompany in a fortress state where... there are 500 other companies that are already way ahead of you...

5. Military! So that was my choice. I was fighting anyway, shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of barehanded 2-clickers. Getting into discussions with other civilians that questioned the DoD's all the time wanting to know why they had to fight here and not there... (that's how I met Astra Kat!!!
It took me a while but I got in the eArmy of the eUSA... nice. I'm still a new guy there but I follow orders and have been part of a few missions all around the eWorld already...

Maybe it is a mid-eLife chrisis but now I just hope for war because is the only way to advance in the game faster... In the end the game forces us to have wars. Even if now eThings seem to be becoming more stable and a lot of eCountries are arranging "war games", I don;t think that eStability will last much...

So here comes my proposal: instead of war games why don't we have eSports!!! With the same concept of eFights we could have eGames where players arrange matches (there could be also eTournaments) where you need to get a buch of people to "play" (where today we "fight") for your eTeam and that scores points towards a match total. There could be 3 eSports for example where each eSport has a match of a different length. (one can be 24 hours like a war fight today, then there could be another sport that has 6 or 12 hour matches and then another one where it is just an hour). Or one eSport can be with a time limit unless one team reaches a number (either of points (equivalent to todays damage) or players). There could be one special ability per eSport and you gain expertise as you play and as you train!

Each time you play: 2 XP, each time you train: 1XP. After you play in one game on one day you loose wellness that you can regain going to an eSports Training Centre (just like the eHospital!). So regions can atract eCitizens based on their Training Center...

Then if you fight on a given day you can't play and viceversa...

The key is to keep it simple. In the beginning there is no need to have the game keep track of tournaments, they can still be arranged outside of the game itself... We could have ranks like in the military that are achieved by points like the damage.

So that would be the same as "War Games" but better because it would not be fake...

Please vote and recommend if you like what you just read. (or vote and recommend anyway if it was too long and you didn't really read it...

***Note: I was going to update it to the current eRep version but I found amusing the references to the old features.

***Note(2): If I get a few new subs I might write a few more articles!
