So much for VL - Who are they kidding?

Day 2,170, 09:16 Published in Greece Greece by Blue Lord

More or less, all of us that have published a few articles, have eventually faced the punishment of our article being reported and hence our account being penalised with 1 forfeit point. In most cases the charges are that our article is not relevant to the game, and that we bring real life issues in virtual life. Apart from the moderators and the rules and legislation of the game, there are a few players that comment things such: "You are talking about RL. It's irrelevant". Or: "Stop mixing RL with VL" or similar.

Personally I haven't find the thin line that separates the two... OK, I am not interested in reading articles that are published on the internet again and again in game too, or articles that they have as a purpose to demonstrate the political or nationalistic beliefs of the author. But there are articles that they are referring to well being, everyday life, humorous, etc that do no harm, yet they are censored immediately, discuraging the communication between players that are not interested in warfare analysis, or don't give a damn care about financial prosperity etc.

So according to the game moderators, and creators, the game has nothing to do with real life and we shouldn't mix the two. I am not gonna go down the road of mentioning that many players use real money to play in the virtual life game blah blah blah bloody blah!!!

No, instead I am gonna present the opinion of the founder of the game and whether he thinks the game is related to RL or not.

"The Guardian" (a newspaper) interviewed Alexis Bonte in February 2008, right at the dawn of the game's life and still in beta mode, asking him several things about the game. The first question was:

As you can see, he doesn't say it is a virtual life game that has nothing to do with real life. He says it is a virtual VERSION of the REAL WORLD.
You can find the interview online by just searching " The Guardian erepublik". I can't provide the link as it is not allowed, but I am sure it is dead easy to find it on line if you are interested.

In addition, another newspaper known as "The New York Times" also published an article in October of 2008 about the game. Again, I cannot provide the link, but you can use your favourite internet search engine using as key phrase "The New York Times erepublik" and you will have your results.

In the article we rea😛

Further down we rea😛

What is more, the site" techcrunch" has published several articles regarding the game and in one of them we rea😛

Last but not least, Alexis Bonte himself, in his own web page, is bragging about the so many articles that have been written in the game and he COMPARES it with RL. Here is what he says :

Again, I can't provide an external link, but you can visit alexisbonte(.com) page to find the relevant information.

In conclusion, If every single article that has been written about erpublik testifies with things that the founders said that it is related with the REAL WORLD, if the map we are playing is from the REAL WORLD and if the founder of the game himself is comparing the game with the REAL LIFE and talking about the ARTICLES WE write, why on earth are we condemned every single time that we do what they do? They took the real life, they made a game based on it, they admit so, they brag about how everything in the game is like in real life, and KAZAAM !!! you wrote an article that is not related to the game? REPORTED!!!!

But hold on a second... the real life is included in the game as much as the game in real life...

So who are they kidding? and why?

Draw your own conclusions.
