Round One of the Invasion

Day 805, 15:15 Published in USA USA by Desertfalcon

*Note this was written to be released yesterday however for reasons you probably know I couldn't publish the article (if I say the real reason why I might get another FP). Anyways I updated it as best I could and I'm not sure if people will be able to see this but I can't hold on to this article forever so here goes.

Despite recent losses in France EDEN took a major step forward today by launching an offensive into the U.K. on multiple fronts and securing two regions. The U.S. finally entered the fray and used their MPPs to their advantage to pick up Wales and the Southeast of England. Canada also attacked the regions of Southeast and Scotland while Norway attacked Scotland as well. Neither of the Canadian or Norwegian attacks were successful however they did draw damage and they were well within tanking range at the end of the battle.

The strategy of EDEN nations was to surprise the U.K. by attacking just shortly before the end of the erepublik day. By doing this it made it so that the U.K. couldn't possibly get their troops mobilized in time to really do some damage before the end of the first day and thus many unsuspecting Brits missed out on the first day of fighting while many Americans were just waiting for the button to be pressed. This helped out the U.S. in the early part of the battle but it presented a bit of a problem in the end when most Americans weren't able to be on due to the battle ending so late.

EDEN also employed a strategy of creating multiple battles to throw off the British defenders. Canada for example, attacked Wales causing the U.K. to waste at least one million damage in the fight against Canada, this allowed the U.S. to encounter less resistance when they attacked the same region. The tactic was also employed when Scotland was attacked by both Canada and Norway, this split the damage done by defenders and left the region open to tanking later in the day. Spain also chipped in by attacking Corsica and Aquitaine in France. Due to France having 9 MPPs with PHX nations many people from those countries fought for France instead of for the U.K. where they were needed more. Spain was able to win in Corsica but they just couldn't pull it out in Aquitaine, they have since launched a second attack into Aquitaine.

Even if the U.S. were to lose during the next wave of attacks it wouldn't be a total disaster and the country will be better off than it would've been had the U.S. not of attacked. Over the past couple of weeks the American economy has gone into a slide due to the lack of demand for weapons and other products. The invasion of the U.K. should spur demand for products which should allow company owners to turn more of a profit and in turn raise wages for most Americans. The likely hood of a serious British counter attack is also slim as America can rely on MPPs to repel any attack.

The American and Canadian victories here give EDEN a foothold to work with and launch further military attacks on the U.K. from. A second wave of attacks will likely occur later in the day when most Americans are online. Now that the Brits have been tipped off there is not much of point a in attempting a surprise attack a time when its easier for British people to get online. A continued offensive may prove difficult though, as it will start to grow expensive to continually fund the tanks and start battles. Not having Romanian support will also hurt EDEN down the stretch. Then, even if EDEN manages a complete conquest there would still be the issue of what to do with the U.K. and seeing as it has no natural resources there wouldn’t be much reason to hold onto those regions for long. Either way it appears that Jewitt may soon achieve his national goals.
