Welcome to the 3nd episode of Reelin’ In The Years!

In the 3rd episode I’ll be covering the Romanian political take over which took place in August, 2008.

It was disastrous period as Victor Petrescu a newly arrive Romanian who was the figure head of the PTO movement, created a party called Global Money Traders the day before the Country President election and was elected President. The election results sparked controversy as votes counted towards Victor came from multi accounts that only logged in to vote on the day of the election. Many Irish citizens viewed it as undemocratic and unfair, though the admins ruling was clear. It was legal for new accounts to vote and this encouraged multiple accounts abuse.

In attempt to overthrow the political takeover, a proclamation of a Provisional Government was established which was the first in eRepublik. However many countries saw fit to declare the provisional government illegitimate, including the Czech Republic, Italy, Hungary, Austria, Japan and Greece. After the first few days of conflict, Victor and his newly elected government objectives were to print money to sell for gold on the monetary market. It is important to note that in the old monetary market, currency wasn’t standardised and gold was very valuable. Ireland had one of the best gold ratio for their national currency in the eworld.

Victor saw this as an opportunity to make himself rich and his first attempt was to print 2 billion IEP, however the action was halted by the admins as it violated the eRepublik laws. In total 100,000 IEP was printed instead, and it is not known how much of this was converted into gold. 4,000 GBP that was deposited in the Irish treasury prior to the election was also stolen by Victor Pretrescu.

Near the end of the month, World War I broke out, with Victor Petrescu's government declaring support for Romania, despite earlier claiming to dislike the Romanian government, while the provisional government declared neutrality. Some Romanians left in Ireland fled back to Romania to fight against Hungary.

The September elections saw the Irish citizens regain power and all Irish Political parties backed ImaNewbie for President. Ireland continued to recover after the disastrous month, although some of Victor’s group remained in Ireland, working in a weapons company, they caused minor problems, mostly with media propaganda and disruptive comments in articles.

Infamous takeover strategist he was the master mind behind the failed PTO attempt of Romania in Bulgaria but successfully managed to lead his troops to the PTO of Pakistan together with his friend Han Solo. He also led a huge number of Romanian citizens in the political take over from Indonesia. They managed to secure over 50% of the Indonesian Congress.

The damage and destruction to Ireland’s foundation for economic domination was all destroyed upon the arrival of Victor Pretrescu. If it wasn’t only for the World War I broking out the odds of success of regaining power in Ireland would have been quite slim. Although the Irish Firing Squad is always ready for him at the Irish Airport 😉
