Play it Smart

Day 1,884, 05:55 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by General Slim

Hey everybody!

As you all know, we're currently at war with Canada and Norway, and war with the Netherlands is on it's way. In light of these circumstances, I felt it was appropriate to write up a little guide regarding war.

War can be a confusing aspect of the game if you were never taught the mechanics. In this guide, I will explain the basics of war and explain what you can do to efficiently help your country.

The first thing we are going to go over is the battle interface and it's mechanics.

Control of the Wall- In a battle, whichever side does the most damage controls "the wall". In this picture, the UK and our allies did 50.10% of all the damage in this battle, so we "control" the wall. A country controls the wall when they have more than 50% of it.

Time Elapsed- This is the total time that passed since the start of the battle. It can be referred to as hours or in minuets. In this case, you can refer to it as "1 hour, 32 minuets, and 54 seconds" or as "90 minuets and 54 seconds".

Score- Every minuet that we control the wall, our score goes up. They number of points it goes up depends on how much time has been elapsed.

0-30 minutes into the battle, 10 points at every minute;
31-60 minutes into the battle, 20 points at every minute;
61-90 minutes into the battle; 30 points at every minute;
91-120 minutes into the battle, 60 points at every minute.

The first side to reach 1,800 points will win the battle. If no side reaches 1800 points, at 2 hours (120 min) the battle will end and the side with the most points will win.

Battle Hero- The battle heroes are the top players from each side who did the most damage for their country.

Now that you know the basic mechanics of battles, we are going to look at the mechanics of campaigns.

This screen can be accessed by clicking the Campaign Details button at the top of the battle screen.

Before we discuss campaigns, you are going to have to understand divisions. There are four divisions, 1-4.

Division 1- Level 1-24
Division 2- Level 25-29
Division 3- Level 30-36
Division 4- 37+

Division 1 from the eUK will battle Division 1 from eCanada.
Division 2 from the eUK will battle Division 2 from eCanada.
And so on....

Wall Control- You can see the wall control for each division by hovering your mouse over it. The side that does the most total damage in a battle controls the wall.

Score- You can see the score by each division. For every minuet that a division controls the wall, it will earn points. The first division to 1800 wins the battle.

Points- When a division wins a battle, it earns points. The amount of points it earns depends on what division it is.

Division 1- 1 Point
Division 2- 2 Points
Division 3- 3 Points
Division 4- 5 Points

The total points earned by each division over the course of a campaign gets tallied up into out "Total Points". The first country to get to 83 points wins the campaign.

In a campaign, there are 8-15 battles.

Those are the basic mechanics to the game! Now I will give you some tips on how to maximize efficiency.

- Very often, players get trigger happy and start using up all of their bazookas and rockets in a battle. This often results in a mega shift of the wall. Remember, we get the same amount of points if we control 50.01% of the wall or 99% of the wall. The general rule of thumb is save your fights if we control more than 53% of the wall. If we control less than that, get it up to 53%.

- Don't snipe battle hero medals. If you deal a ton of damage in the last seconds of a battle, then you just wasted a bunch of resources that could have been used in the next battle.

- Don't waste your damage in a battle that has already been lost. Save your fights for the next one.

- Fight in battles that are sponsored by the MoD. It doesn't matter who they tell you to fight for, just do it. Sometimes, fighting for our allies in critical battles is more important than a battle in somewhere like Norway. To get MoD orders, you can go to their Newspaper. If they are outdated, go to the eUK forums, orders are on the top of the page. As a last resort, contact somebody on IRC. If you are new to IRC, read up on this excellent IRC guide.
