Picking a Resource Strategy

Day 2,621, 09:18 Published in Canada Canada by Aries Prime

New changes are incoming and I feel the need to post a basic strategy guide for Canada (and other interested countries) to vote on. Because of this I would prefer everyone that that reads this post a rank order preference list (1. 2. 3.) of the strategies they would prefer for Canada to employ. If this doesn’t work out then I’ll have to post a second article with a link to a website or straw poll site or something to do a more formal voting. Note that I’m coming up with these strategies as I go but there should be enough variety and common sense to make them viable (Even came up with some flashy names).

Gatherer

We try to gather the most common resources available with the most common at the core and least common on the sides. This method will be used to maximize likelihood of retaining regions while giving our stronger neighbors the option to only having to annex one of our side regions. This is a survival method purely for retaining regions. As the event goes on, we would reevaluate preferences based on the amount of resources remaining, holding to the most common resources possible. Essentially it is catering to stronger neighbors while still keeping regions for your ocuntry.

I would suggest this for weak, small countries in order to keep regions.

Raider

We pick up 3-4 resources in a specific area while placing all other regions on the most common resources. We place those main resources in the core of our country, for the most protection, while placing our more common ones on the outsides. This will give us a clear preference for a particular industry that we are trying to get full bonuses for while not making us too much of a target because we won’t have every resource for that industry. It will give us better production results in that industry and force us to look abroad for full bonuses that we would need. We could even setup a deal with neighboring countries to place resource we need on their land for us to take.

I suggest this for strong, but medium sized warlike countries. This is what I would prefer for Canada since we are quite aggressive and warlike.

Producer

We go all out gathering 5/5 resources on an industry in order to monopolize it. We would place those resources at the core of our nation while placing more common resources on the sides. This will give us everything we need right at the start but at the huge risk of invasion from other countries. There would be no need to invade other countries, but we would have to be constantly on alert for enemy attacks.

I would suggest this only for the strongest, largest countries.

Mixed

We gather 2 resources in every area and attempt to diversify as much as possible by gathering common and uncommon resources. Placement of resources won't matter as much since we will have a large variety of everything. There won’t be too much incentive to attack since it would require a lot of attacking to gain full resources in any industry while the need to defend will probably be the same since our resources won’t be too special in any particular area. This is the most basic and flexible strategy we could take that doesn’t require much thought.

I’d suggest this for countries that have no idea what to do. Those that are well off and good sized, but don’t have a preference for the other strategies.

Rank Order Preferences

Please vote according to the following example:

1. Raider
2. Mixed
3. Producer
4. Gatherer

With Raider being the most preferred and Gatherer being the least preferred in this example.

Upcoming Election

This upcoming election will be the most important election ever. We will need to vote someone both trusted and smart enough to make the right bonus decisions for our country. Because of that it is imperative that we make the right decision. I am happy to run or someone else that is both smart and trusted can run, but we need to start talking about this now.

Have fun strategizing,
